My 2009 Accord Coupe 5 speed Airbag SRS warning light came on for no apparent reason. Car has not been in a collision and I rarely travel with a passenger. Around that time, I received a letter from Honda about an airbag inflator problem that would be repaired on recall. When Honda replaced the Inflator, the SRS light was still on (Dealer informed me that the light on had nothing to do with the recall) so they ran a code test - got 82-12 code - replaced passenger side weight sensor ($699). SRS light was still on. Ran code test - indicated if light stayed on to replace wire harness and if that doesn't fix the problem, replace OPDS Unit (quoted price $1054). Am disgusted. Honda dealer said it is caused by faulty electrical issue.

Problem Accord 2009 LX 2.4L

Honda Accord 2009 LX Sedan 2.4L 5A
My 2009 honda accord has a grinding noise that occurs when the ignition is activated from a cold start. The noise lasts for approximately two seconds and sounds like the timing belt system is ratcheting into place. This only occurs on a cold start, meaning the engine has not been running for 4 or more hours. I have had this problem for over a year. An internet search located honda service bulletin 09-010 dated 08/17/10 and then updated on 10/21/11. The safety bulletin describes the variable valve timing control (vtc) actuator as being, "defective". Additional internet search identified that th… Read complete

My 2008 Honda Accord is experencing the same cold start timing chain rattle. This is apparently a common occurance and needs to be addressed by Honda in the form of a recall. My Honda has been maticulously maintained since I bought it new. Just got to 100,000 miles. Disappointed in Georgia.
SoLongHonda from United States 5 years ago
Same issue. Just returned from the dealer to hear the engine is burning oil and my 2009 Honda Accord has only 43k miles on it. When the service writer came back and told me that the issue was the engine was burning oil I was shocked... How could that be? Turns out Honda never contacted me about a service bulletin and is aware of the issue and did anything proactive. Now I am scratching my head and will never buy another Honda. The Tech never mentioned anything and I always take my Honda to get the oil change under regular maintenance reminders... It seems Honda was hiding behind this issue. Never once did they tell me about this issue. Now when you start the car under a cold start you hear the rattle. Then they proceed to tell me its going too cost $6k to repair all the things under there service bulletin regarding this issue. This should have been a recall by Honda. I am going to reach out to the NHTSA to see what my options are.

Honda Misfires after LOTS of work SolvedSolved

Starts fine, idles fine around 1000rmp. Power drops to the engine and it seems to be locked in Limp Mode. There's a big list of things I've done below, but the comp is saying misfires in all 4 cylinders and it threw codes for the crank, coolant temp, and knock sensors, all of which are new and torqued to spec. Put em in yesterday. Codes and misfires continue. Grounding issue? If so, how do I troubleshoot that? Also, I am suspicious of the starter, as it had a different manufacturing number, but it was running fine since October when I put it in, up until about a month ago. So it's a maybe? The problem goes away after about 20 - 30 seconds even after shifting gears from reverse to drive. Problem 2012 Honda Accord EX-L 4dr 4cyl

Honda Accord 2012 EX-L Sedan 2.4L 5A
The front seating is so uncomfortable that is causes back and neck pain, and i fear if the car was involved in an accident the head rest, which is pointed so far forward as to cause neck pain if the person uses the seat in a straighter position. The lumbar support causes me back pain because i cannot adjust it out. It hits me in a bad place in the back and causes back pain. I am an average height male (5'11").

The headrest on this used 2015 Honda Accord EX that I recently bought forces my head forward when driving. It is very uncomfortable and takes the joy out of driving. There is no adjustment to headrest but up and down. I tried different adjustments and none helped. Though the car is like new with low mileage, I am considering trading it for a car with comfortable headrests. I wish Honda would manufacture a new type of headrest that adjusts frontwards/backwards, and also give a recall to all 2015 Honda Accord owners and replace the headrests with common sense headrests. My wife and I want to keep the car, because we like the way it runs, but the uncomfortable and annoying headrests ruin the joy of driving and also sitting in the front passenger seat. As a result, we drive the car only on short trips of 30 minutes or less, and are eager to get back home and get out of it. A car should be comfortable and a joy to drive, but the headrests on this 2015 Honda Accord EX make driving a chore rather than a pleasure.

You may be able to pull the headrest off and turn it 180 degrees and put it back on. Worked well in my old camry.

2012 Accord 6cyl fix

Honda Accord 2012 EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5L 5A
This is an intermittent recurring issue with the vehicle. When making a slow speed turn, typically accelerating from a traffic light or stop sign, the engine will not respond to the accelerator being depressed. This occurs if i have to lift off of the accelerator and reapply pressure, due to traffic slowing around turns or other driving conditions that necessitate lifting off of the gas pedal and then stepping on it the problem has not happened when going straight, only on turns. What you need is the EPS or Pedal Position Sensor. It's the actual pedal assembly. Since these cars are "fly by wire" there is no push/pull cable it's all electric now.

SRS light stays on continuously

Honda Accord 2004 Euro 2.4 225000 miles
The SRS light was initially intermittently faulty and could be reset. Got sick of taking it to the dealer and having them reset it and tell me it was now OK. Found a successful home reset procedure which worked several times but the light has now come on steady. When using the reset procedure the SRS light gives the final two blinks to indicate a successful reset , but the light now stays steady on.
I have just removed and tested the drivers seat belt microswitch as instructed on a You Tube video but that tested all OK...seat belt unplugged closed(NC) seatbelt plugged in open (NO). Looking at the seat pressure sensors now , but don't get any change in status at the plug when testing with someone seated / unseated.

Problem Accord 2013 Sport 4cyl 6M

Honda Accord 2013 Sport Sedan 2.4L 6M
2013 honda accord sport has had its trunk open by itself on multiple occasions. The trunk has never opened on it own while in motion but when it is parked. It is only discovered when i walk back to the car and see the trunk cracked open. This is a security/safety breach in my case as i sometimes will keep firearms in the security of the trunk leading to the potential of stolen firearms from an open trunk. I have not been able to determine the cause of the trunk randomly opening. This has happened to me at least 3 times throughout the ownership of the car.

Lights on dash

Honda Accord 2013  275000 miles
A few months ago I had several lights come on: ABS , power steering, brake, and tire pressure. After taking it to a shop I was told than an ABS sensor was malfunctioning due to an ABS flap on the passenger side getting stuck and that it can’t be fixed. They are not constantly on and some days don’t come on at all. Recently, my TPS light has started blinking. I’ve checked pressure, recalibrated, and even checked the spare. What could be the actual cause of all this? Performance of car has not changed at all and still gets 40-ish miles to a gallon. It does have 275,000 miles

Engine Missfiring(?)

Honda Accord 2017 LX 38000 miles
Got a bit of a story.
About 2 months ago I bought a 2017 Honda Accord LX (FWD) with Rebuilt Title & 38K miles. When warm/stopped at a light, the car will make loud grumbling noises and jerk forward. Kept having it looked at until about a month ago a family member took it out and it started leaking heavy fuel. Had the fuel leakage fixed but the Engine problem still persists.
I've had 2 mechanics say they can't figure out why it keeps missfiring, any advice? For any further context, I have the following lights: Check Engine, Electronic Power Steering, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and Anti-lock brake System on.

I, too, own a 2013 Accord EX-L/Nav 4 cyl. Though I was very pleased with the car overall, I can’t say the same for the way I feel about the way in which Honda- both the local Dealer, nor the Honda America company – treat their customers. It is one convoluted bureaucracy where their lack of knowledge is only overshadowed by the gall in which they espouse their ridiculous wisdom.
The only issues I had with the car during the first 2 years or so were merely inherent in the design of the car: the Terrible ‘deluxe’ audio system sound and the CVT transmission’s idiosyncrasies. Also, I got the initial computer update – luckily - as when I first spoke with them w/ re to some various phone/audio system issues, they really had no clue and were planning on the usual ‘we must see for ourselves’ service appointment. On the appointment date, they had just received the first firmware/software update which did help.

Within a short period of time, a computer glitch developed- one that I was eventually emotionally beaten down from and drained. The system stopped letting you choose the 2nd page of ‘phone history’ when the car was moving. When you would scroll to the end of the first page of 5 telephone numbers/names, a note would show at the bottom of the screen telling you to ‘say ‘ ’next’’’ into the car’s microphone as it was supposed to go to the next screen. This stopped working. You would be taken to a different screen altogether! Upon bringing the car back to DCH Academy Honda a few times, as well as speaking with Tech Support American Honda, the results were so off the wall that it’s unbelievable that this company is still in existence. Both would offer answers such as ‘it’s supposed to be that way’, or, ‘go see how another car’s system operates’! How insulting. A- it never had done this in the past, B-why would it ‘tell’ you to go to the ‘next’ screen if it wasn’t going to do anything?
I had written out very good, concise explanations – with screen pictures - of the issue for the service managers. Yet, when they ‘had to see the issues for themselves’, invariably, as we drove together, they proved that they had no clue of both what the system is supposed to do and more so, what I was even talking about. I was exasperated: my emotions-defeat, trapped, walled-off, and anger - all started to escalate to a point where I wanted to blow, to have someone with a mind just LISTEN. This was just unbelievable.

By then I had already started my Log of conversations, phone calls, meetings, etc. After speaking ad infinitum to various level ‘service’ managers (a joke), they finally agreed to change ‘something’. As soon as I heard what they wanted to change, I knew they were totally on the wrong track. (they were changing out the ’hands-free link module’; not the problem as it worked for other functions, etc.). Each level in their hierarchy of service people were merely there as a wall to wear one down, as none knew more than the next. And, each one had the same lack of knowledge as to what the system is supposed to do, thus necessitating my repeating myself each time as they just didn’t read the paperwork. And, each time, they were in touch with their Tech Support and still getting ridiculous answers to what should be done or more accurately what shouldn’t be done. Anything. By the way, some other screens on the computer had started acting in an aberrant way, too.
[I’m not listing all the visits, nor names, nor other thoughts that I (a geek) offered to them, nor other attempts to remedy the issue that were made at this time]

After finally getting a referral to a potentially advanced tech person at one of their affiliated Honda dealers, I was actually shocked to see that this person did understand the problem and did offer to help. He convinced his manager to finally change the computer module. Wow, home free. Not!
[Don’t let me leave out the part where their ‘business sect’y’ called me to tell me that I was not covered for this repair, but that they would do it for me as a goodwill gesture. Totally wrong. Not just did this issue start when under the initial warrantee period, but I also had the extended warrantee which spelled out exactly that it was indeed covered. Another insult. ]
Result: though some issues in the computer system did improve, my basic problem was NOT Rectified by this new computer. Not to mention that the unit no longer lists nor speaks Zagat Restaurant reviews- a real perk that surprised me when I first got the car.
This brings me to where I am now. I spoke to tech support at American Honda again, after sending a lengthier letter- with Pictures of what was going on on the screen. They called me back. Though this person, too, really didn’t know what the specifics of my computer were, he explained to me that ‘…not enough people complained about the problem to warrant their intervention…– to fix it’. What an answer!!!
I called/wrote them again months later and upon their call-back, was further exasperated when told that the part must be found broken by the Local Dealer who would then notify American Honda and then they would have the ability to help. ISN’T THIS FAULTY LOGIC, CIRCULAR REASONING AT ITS BEST!! I felt so trapped, locked in, defeated, and wanted to bust out. Their attitude was totally one of walling you off from them in every sentence that she stated – almost scripted for her. So, where do I go now?

2009 Accord 5A LX 4dr problem

Honda Accord 2009 LX Sedan 2.4L 5A
Rear brake pads wore prematurely as per class action suit notification we received in 2010. Upon inspection for routine maintenance (no other signs of a problem occurred) found that the rotors were also ruined and required repair. Honda seems ready to wash their hands of the situation because of the class action settlement and would not pay for rotor replacement, at least that is what the dealer indicated. Total cost of repair was $337. Not happy and the second problem with the vehicle on a critical safety system (front wheel bearings went and were replaced by honda at about 20,000 mi). I'm concerned there will be ongoing critical failures if our experience with this accord is any indication of what is to come. *tr

Problem Accord

Honda Accord 2009
2009 honda accord airbags didn't deploy with radiator wrapped around engine on a front end crash. The other vehicle was a jeep and was hit in the side and all the airbags were deployed. This was not a minor accident as they are thinking of totaling out the vehicle. My mother in law weighs around 100 pounds, but the airbags should have been deployed. She was taken to the hospital, with chest injuries. *tr

My daughter was driving her 2008 Honda Accord, she hit a tree, fence and flipped the car resulting in it hitting another tree and the drivers airbag never deployed. She died in the car accident and Honda takes no responsibility for this. If you seen her car you wouldn’t believe the air bag didn’t deploy- all the other airbags did but not hers. I even had the coroner say she had no signs of airbag deployment to her body and her injuries were consistent with no airbag deployed. The police report and first responders stated no airbag deployment yet Honda takes no responsibility for it. Just makes me wonder how many more lives will be lost before they own this and make it a recall.
