Hybrid Honda civic 2005 SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 2005  150000 miles
Suddenly many functions stopped working: the alarm is out of order, the door locks do not respond to their button, the interior light turns on at any moment, the hybrid system seems to be always discharged, leds from the gears flicker, the entrance for the scanner doens't work and even the stereo turns off. There are no burnt fuses, any idea what it may be?

Open the hood or bonnet and there you will find some other fuses. There is one called "backup" or something similar. That one usually burns out.

Thank you earnest. Checked that and the problem is: fuse that I introduce, it is burnt out.

You must have a short circuit in the wiring. Is there something you have recently installed on your car? That could be the cause.
augie20 from United States 11 years ago
The last installation was the scanner and it is not working since then. The short circuit could be in its plug, right earnest?
earnest from United States 11 years ago
Most probably. You should check whether it is damaged or shorted, otherwise you'll have to change the scanner connector.

Overheating SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 2000  150000 miles
Hello, I'm having problems with my vehicle. It overheats, evaporating all of the antifreeze coming to the deposit or water recovery system, so I need to be adding water every three days. I've already changed hoses, the thermostat, suspenders, the water pump, the radiator and many radiator plugs. I've then been told that the problem was the catalytic converter and so I changed it, but nothing ever changed. Any ideas?

Your problem must be in the gasket's head. You should tell your mechanic to remove it, check it under pressure and check the block as well.

Remote start wiring damage killed the horn SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 2009 Sedan 95000 miles
The remote start wiring got damaged and now the horn does not work (nor does the remote start, but I don’t care about that). Even shutting off the valet switch didn’t restore the horn, although it allowed remote start once. The fuse looks fine, but other than replacing that, does the entire remote system have to be removed in order to fix the horn? Thanks.

Mechanics checked the electrical and the horns had power. They ended up whacking one of them with a rubber mallet which made one sound, at least. They also found the radiator rusting out, which is one expense too many. Trading it.

Check if the compressor is running when you turn your AC on. If yes, you probably need a recharge. Simple DIY job with a can of refrigerant. Items available at any auto supply store.

Ground strap to battery has voltage on it. SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 1998 Ex coupe  260000 miles
While driving on the freeway I noticed the engine light was blinking, but only three blinks then a pause of about 20 seconds then 3 more blinks. At that point I had been driving a total of about 7 minutes. Roughly 4 off and 3 or so on the freeway. The car drove fine this whole time/ nothing to make me even think of the light coming on so I kept driving (about 15 more minutes home) knowing that it's not what's is suggested. Anyhow I got home went in to eat and came out to hook up my scanner (Autel AL519) will no luck. I started the car to collect info on scanner of live feed, but the scanner do… Read complete

Energized Ground Strap from United States 3 years ago
After a long week of testing circuits and searching for a grounded wire somewhere I had the electrical hooked back up with just the alternator unhooked. Once I hooked that up it caused the voltage on the ground strap to rise and become stronger. So I replaced the alternator and that fixed the energized ground strap issue. I have an idle issue now along with strange driving conditions so I'm waiting to see if it throws a code for something failing. I've driven almost 200 miles though so I'm not sure if a code is going to be presented.

Radio and electrics

Honda Civic 2011 1800 SOHC i-VTEC 58000 miles
I can get the radio and CD and Aux to work sometimes but mostly not working. The CD player actually plays the disc but no sound. When I start the car it shows 'RADIO 1' with a telephone symbol. As soon as i press any button on the device it immediately changes the display to '1 AF ON' with the telephone symbol but nothing works when pressed and no sound. The Central locking sometimes stops working but opens with the key. I also looked at the dashboard layout with the ignition on for about 15 to 20 minutes and the car would not turn over. But after another 5 to 10 minutes suddenly worked fine.… Read complete

It sounds like there could be a few different issues with your Honda Civic. The radio and CD player not working, the central locking system malfunctioning, and the battery issues could all be related or separate problems.
It is possible that the battery with dead cells is causing the electrical problems in the vehicle, including the radio and CD player, and the central locking system. If the battery is weak, it may not be providing enough power to all of the electrical components, which can result in them not functioning properly.
However, it is also possible that there is a separate issue with the electrical system, such as a wiring problem, a blown fuse, or a problem with the alternator. In this case, a new battery would not solve the problem.
I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose the issue and recommend the necessary repairs. They can perform a full electrical system check to determine the root cause of the problem and ensure that all of the components are functioning properly.
Peewee from Great Britain 4 years ago
Thanks Bruce. I will get it checked out before it gets worse.
Maymoe from United States 3 years ago
This is happening to me. I had starter, battery, alternator replaced and ignition control module. It still is wonky. It goes from am to FM to aux, to not working to turning on and it being very loud and it just beeps and beeps. It's crazy. I believe it's another faulty ignition control module. But the dealership won't even consider it being that. I explained to them that when they first put it in it worked great and after a day it's bad again and now my key fob with new battery does not lock/unlock my car. They key works great but that's my issue. I only have 134k miles.

New battery, lights and radio come on.

Honda Civic 2000 4 cylinder LX 123000 miles
I just put a new battery in my LX and it still won't start. I listened for sounds, no clicks. All of the dash warning lights, headlights, radio, and even AC come on when I turn the key, but no vroom vroom. Strange thing is the hazards lights start blinking and won't go off, not even when I turn the car off. After wiggling the turn signal stick a little and pressing the hazard button in a few times it cuts off. But when I open the door of the car the hazards come on again, and are accompanied by ding ding sound like when door is ajar--even after door is shut. I was thinking electrical problem

2012 Honda Civic Coupe - Issue After Replacing Battery

Honda Civic 2012 Coupe 66000 miles
My car sat all winter. I just replaced the battery, and now warning lights remain ON. The stereo won't work, either...nothing happens when I press "Source" and nothing happens when I try to turn on the radio/CD player.
I am afraid to drive the vehicle, but it was in perfect working condition when I last drove it.
Through my research, I learned a few things...it could be sensors or fuses. Or, I could drive it around and see if the lights go off?

I need advice!
