Sounds like maybe fuel pump. Pump and strainer are in the gas tank. They are a ceiled unit. Would recommend replacing if you are having trouble. Check for a service hole before removing the entire tank first. Can save a lot of time.

@netdrummerI thought fuel pump first thing but I had three that went bad on me over life and the all gave me time before they just died ,just want to test a few things before I pull the tank ,I was thinking someone put stuff in the gas. Idk.

It seems the as long as you keep the pedal about one inch from the floor board its normal but once you pass that inch, it will bog down at any rpm...Any ideas...Already changed the mass air throttle, fuel pump, injectors, fuel filter, Oxigen sensors...Thanks for any input...there is no codes.

It might be that your engine requires an internal cleaning removing the crankcase and washing the whole throttle body. It might even stall and shutt off because of this problems

Was looking at this thread because I had this problem a few years ago-4-5 years. Remove and clean the throttle body. My 2005 F-150 started doing it again last night. It's intermittent at first then more often until you clean the throttle body. Hope this helps!

On my 2005 F150 that I just had the transmission rebuilt on. They found a stuck valve on in valve body which causes the drum to break. The drum is poorly designed and they make a better one to replace it with.

Mine does that but after I’ve drove it for a while. It runs fine when It first starts but after a while it will jerk when I let off the gas and if I stop at a red light, when I hit the gas it jerks hard like it’s going to stop! I thought a while back I was having issues with the transmission temperature sensor because of hard cranks after a lon drive and letting it sit! Could it be the same issue? I plan on changing it out and changing the fluid since it has high miles anyway.

I went through this problem for about 9 months. Replaced icm, computer, disputer, coils, plugs , wires, tps, maf, egr , fuel pressure regulator,. Last thing replaced o2 sensor fixed the total thing. If I was to start over I would get the air right, o2 sensors and maf. Then check fuel pressure, and go from there. Go to a mechanic that can read the obd1 computer to diaganose it better. Good luck
Diesel Jerry from United States 9 years ago
If you have the 4R70E or W transmission there’s an issue with the design of the drum in the transmission and the valves sticking in the valve body. They make a better designed drum to fix the problem.

My pick up does not accelerate

Ford F-150 1998  140000 miles
It started with jerks while driving; when starting gold y vibrates and then it normalizes. While driving it losed power as if choking a little, but now it got worse. It chokes while accelerating and sounds as if exploding, when I let go it keeps driving; if I accelerate again it does the same but it doesn't stall. If I turn it off for 5 seconds it works for 10 minutes and then it fails again. I alreadi cleaned the injectors, changed spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, coils and their sensors. I've already had this problem for a year and they can't solve it, yesterday I scanned it and had air sensor error, but changing it didn't fix it.

Truck failure

It was working fine and the next day I used it I felt the truck heavy, it didn't have the normal acceleration, and then I realized it didn't have the power to go uphill, it went sluggishly and when the revolutions go up it started shuddering. With the scanner it showed errors P0755, P1747 and P0743, I was told it might be the gas pump, but the failure continues. How many miles since last transmission fluid exchange? Shuttering sound like torque converter shutter. Try BG Products transmission conditioner, it will neutralize the fluid. If the shutter goes away then exchange the fluid and use another BG conditioner again.

It could be because of dirty injectors, it might also be the fuel filter that is underneath the driver's seat, check that first to see if it's clogged. If it still fails you should check the fuel pump, it has a filter for the fuel in the tank that goes to the injectors. The stronger the acceleration, the more power it would lose.

Won't turn over not getting fuel

Replaced fuel pump but still get signs. It's a fuel pump. Think it's fuses. Loses power, Dogg's out, acts like transmission out, I have to manually change gears for it to try and go, backfires under hood also during all this. Then after a spell it runs fine. Unless gas is gone. Then it's hard to start have to add are lease half tank bang on it and constantly spray starting fluid with pedale to medal then after three cans starts. Does this Only when a quarter to none of gas in the tank left though. They say catalyst converter are clogged up is why ts doing that.

It sounds like there may be multiple issues with your Ford F-150. Here are a few possibilities:

Fuel pump: If the fuel pump was recently replaced but you're still experiencing problems with your vehicle starting, it's possible that the new fuel pump wasn't installed correctly, or that there's a problem with the wiring or fuel lines that is affecting its performance.
Fuel system: If you're experiencing problems with the fuel system, such as the engine losing power or the vehicle stalling, there could be an issue with the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, or injectors.
Catalytic converter: If the catalytic converter is clogged, this can cause issues with the engine's performance, including reduced power and backfires.
Electrical: If you're experiencing problems with the electrical system, such as the starter or fuel pump not engaging, there could be a problem with the fuses, battery, alternator, or wiring.

While driving the engine just lost power. When you depress the acclerator it was as you are not getting any fuel. I had it towed to a shop, the shop said they diagnosed the problem and it was the fuel pump, it was not getting the right amout of pressure. They replaced the fuel pump. When I picked up the truck it had a little rattle when changing gears, the mechanic said that the computer may needed to be reset! Drove the vehicle for a day and it shut down again with the same problems. Had to have it towed back to the shop.

I have the same problem. It happens randomly, a lot of times after rain or sitting for days without starting. When it happens, the check engine light comes on and the truck has no acceleration. I turn off the truck and wait a few minutes, then it runs fine. The check engine light disappears after a while most times. It's a very confusing situation. I've changed the coil packs, the plugs and wires. It still does it periodically.

When driving my 2005 Ford F150 5.4 it feels like it wants to die out and has trouble accelerating. Changed all spank plugs and replaced starter but my problem still is there.
