While driving down farris rd at ~40 mph the eps light came on and the power steering failed. This happened on the way back from my pregnant wife's doctor appointment. We pulled over to the nearest empty parking lot and read the manual. We hadn't been doing any of the things the manual said would cause this. Over the next 10 miles this happened 3 more times. Once while sitting still in a drive through line. We called our honda dealership and the offered to let us schedule an appointment and receive a shuttleride home. My wife got us slightly better service with a facebook post and they offered to look at our car that day and comped us a rental car under warranty. Several hours later we received a call that after speaking with their tech support they will need to replace the rack. *tr

While driving on highway at 50 mph, the power steering failed and the steering light came on. Luckily, i was able to slow the car down and get off of the highway. I pulled into a neighborhood and put the car in park. After several minutes, i put the car back in gear and the power steering was still out, but i was able to make it home. The next day, i started the car and the power steering was working. The steer wheel has jerked to the left/right on several occasions, but this was the first time that the power steering when completely out. While driving at approx. 25 mph, suddenly the power steering completely failed and power steering warning light came on. As i was only a couple of blocks from home, i was able to hard steer it home. Spouse turned engine off, started it back up and power steering reset. Took it to the dealer. Did diagnostic and determined :
diagnose eps system per isis. Found faulty torque sensor. Replace complete power steering rack and perform alignment. After reading other similar complaints, i am hopeful that this will not happen again. It is extremely dangerous when this happens.

As my vehicle was accelerating onto a highway on-ramp, i lost almost all power to my vehicle, and it became more difficult to steer. The check engine light came on, the electric power steering light came on, the traction control light came on, and my tire warning light started flashing. Was barely able to make it into the emergency lane, and probably would have been rear-ended had a car been following close behind. Once in the emergency lane, a burning odor could be smelled by all 4 passengers in the car. There was nothing wrong with my tires. Car had to be towed to dealership for repairs which are pending. This vehicle has the new "cvt" transmission, and i suspect this may be part of the problem. This should not be happening in a brand new car, this is a safety issue for sure. *tr

I was pulling away from a stop sign and had accelerated to about 15 mph. All of a sudden the car slowed down and stopped. I stepped on the accelerator and the car didn't move and the engine shut down. At the same time all the dash warning lights came on, including check engine, the big exclamation mark, anti-skid control, and the electric steering wheel warning light. I put the car in park and was able to restart the engine. At this time i noticed all the warning lights were still on, including the fcw light in the center of the speedometer with the message fcw failure. When the car was checked at the honda dealership they could find no codes related to the above issues. They did find code dtc p2176 set for throttle actuator control not learned stored in history. *tr

On 10/10/2015 the eps system indicator came on and the steering wheel became hard to turn while pulling up to a fast food drive-through window. On 10/12/2015 the vehicle was taken to the service department at the honda dealership from which it was purchased. On 10/15/2015 repair was completed at no charge. Invoice states: cst: customer states check esp light has been reported on, and stiff steering intermittently caused by 53601-t2g-a02 dtcs 53-01, 53-02. Verified stiff steering.
