Ecm relay making a clicking sound SolvedSolved

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3 135836 miles
Just finished rebuilding the engine and after installing the engine and trying to start the truck the Ecm relay starter a clicking sound and the Truck won’t start but as soon as I move the wire under the fuse box the car turns on. The wire is under the ecm relay. I’m not sure if the wire is broken or did I miss something while installing the motor. If anyone else had this problem before please let me know thanks 🙏

Horn wont work SolvedSolved

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2019 5.3l high country 80000 miles
Horn wont work, changed out fuse and that didnt help. Looked for relay and couldnt find one for the horn. Even using the key fob doesnt make it go off. im assuming its the wiring or the horn itself but would like some other opinions.

The horn relay is built into the underhood fuse block. Not a replaceable relay by itself. The horn fuse receives the power from the relay to the fuse so if you are not getting power to the fuse when the horn should blow your relay isn't working. The power feed to the relay comes through 175 amp fuse link near the battery and the relay is grounded by the body control module when it should sound. BCM is at the left end of dash and a brown/white wire is the command wire from it to the horn relay. You may have a related trouble code stored so worth checking.

Turns out someone tried to steal the truck and unplugged the horn from underneath the vehicle. Plugged it in and works now.

Will not start after changing fuel pump, fuel filter, cap and rotor

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 1998 Chevrolet  130000 miles
1998 5.7 Chevy 1500 C truck. It will run for two seconds without pouring fuel in throttle body, then stops. Changed fuel pump relay. Fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, cap and rotor. I will change wires and plugs next. It does run when I pour fuel into the throttle body. Im getting these codes po452 p1626 po463 po108 not sure what they mean. Should I clear these codes?
I have good fuel pressure 60 psi at the test port. This is not a daily driver. Truck has been sitting several years!

Out of the 4 codes, the P1626 is the one to be concerned with. That is the VATS system disabling the fuel system because it doesn't recognize the key at start up. Have you tried performing the key relearn procedure? Any OBD2 scanner should let you look at live data in the Body Control Module to determine if the BCM is acknowledging a valid key. The actually source of the problem varies wildly though. Could be a bad ignition switch module, a low battery, faulty BCM, etc.. . When I find BCM issues like that, I always look under the dash below the column for signs someone added an aftermarket alarm or other hackery, that is usually where the issue stemmed from.

Thanks for getting back to me. I discount the battery and then touched positive and negative wires together several times. I turned on lights and ignition. Then waited 15 min. Then connected battery back. Battery fully charged with a trickle charge on it. I turned on the ignition for 10 min. Then off for 10 seconds. I did this 4 times. Its still not starting. I did notice the alternator charge gauge and light not coming on like it did before. Still not starting. Doing the same running a few seconds then stopping. Is there a way to check the BCM and the PCM before changing them?
Dustman Diagnostics from United States a year ago
@Trucker BobThere are procedures for 100% verifying the BCM is at fault but it involves tearing down the steering column and verifying the red w/white stripe wire at the ignition module has battery voltage with the key in the crank position. Are there any other "odd" behaviors going on? Such as brake and reverse lights staying on, horn stays on, wipers, etc.. . Without being there in person to condemn the BCM, it is almost a safe bet the BCM is at fault. If you are interested in purchasing a rebuilt module that you won't have to program, remove your current BCM from under the steering column, record the exact part #, year, make, and model of your vehicle and look these guys up: https://highway71autoparts.com/
So far their BCM's have been perfect, only need to perform the key relearn procedure and go.
Trucker Bob from United States a year ago
@Dustman DiagnosticsOk Thanks! Where is the BCM located?
Trucker Bob from United States a year ago
@Dustman DiagnosticsThe dash gauges stopped working. The alternator charge gauge and the oil pressure gauge. Also the security light is not working.

Check out door switches. If one of them is failing the light keeps on.

Had the same issue. Thought it was a security lockout. Something draining battery. Thought starter. Relays checked out. Came back to life after doing a lockout reset but only lasted a few hrs. Ended up to be a Bad battery, charged but wasn’t putting out enough amps. These Chevys use a lot of power from the battery. Doesn’t take long for them to wear down. Putting a second battery in to support demand. Should just come standard. There is a space for it just now researching what’s needed to complete. Good luck hope this may help.

All of a sudden I’m getting parasitic battery drain. Garage said I had a bad battery, but alternator is good. Replaced it. Gauge said14 v at the garage, 12 hrs later gauge dropped to ~12 v and hasn’t come up to normal range yet.

Electrical/won't start

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2006 Extended cab 4x4  199256 miles
Sorry in advance for the length of this. This truck has set for a couple of years the mice have found it home. I've not yet found chewed wires anywhere but there has to be some. I put a used battery but a good one in it and tried to start it nothing happened at all. I started looking into the fuses. I found several missing one of my boys must have needed some I guess. I don't know if I have found all that is missing and I'm not sure how to find out if ive got them all replaced. So I finally get some dash lights to come on battery light, brake light, and of course the lock down is also on. T… Read complete

New battery, New plugs/wires and now I have power but no crank no noth

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2006 Ext. Cab Z71 4x4 5.3L Vortec 189000 miles
I put a new battery in this truck about a week ago. Then a few days ago I ended up getting ahold of some bad fuel which had me stalled out in front of my house barely making it back from the store. So long story short... when getting fresh gas In the tank I figured I outta go ahead and change the plugs since I had them anyway plus the bad fuel issue figured it wouldn't be a bad idea. Then that lead to 5 out 8 broken spark plug wires which took another 2 days to be delivered. So now I get these replaced everything sound as it should be and now I turn the key, I have plenty of power from the bat… Read complete

I lost complete power to the low beam on the the passenger side i.e. me jumping wire. Now my issue is my driver side one out. I tested the wine at the jump point and there is very low voltage when I touch my Test light to it. I believe I changed a headlight relay not sure if it was for high beam low beam and I've checked the fuses and I can't… Read complete
