Strange noise
Volkswagen Passat 2010 1.6 Bluemotion 110000 miles
When I attempt to drive/take off in 1st gear I am hearing a
Strange knocking noise,. Once I have picked up speed and changed to 2nd the noise is gone... No problem in selecting gears, just this noise. The other day when I was changing gear I found a vibration in the clutch pedal. Anybody any ideas as to what this might be. No warning lights etc on dash... The mouse started 2 days ago and I think it's staring to get worse.

Sounds to me like your thrust bearing / concentric slave is failing. Easiest way to check this out is start the car and depress the clutch does the noise change ? Then release it to compare a good bearing should sound the same always pressed or depressed. Hope this helps

I have a similar if not the same issue - when setting off in 1st gear i hear a grating knocking noise only starts when setting off in gear as i take the pedal up. I think its also in 2nd but hard to hear over the engine. It apears to be more previlant on an uphill start.
