Engine runs but won't start SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 2001  143 miles
Hope someone can help me. I own an automatic Jetta 2001 and it was working properly until suddenly, one day, it wouldn't start again. The engine runs but there is no way it can be started. The fuel pump's pressure has been checked, the coil replaced as there were no sparks in the spark plugs, but the problem is still there. All fuses are alright as well as the crankshaft's sensor. The acceleration body has been cleaned and the battery replaced. Can the stereo have something to do? Because it is indicating SAFE 0000, meaning that the car is blocked? Can someone please tell me what to do?

After many attempts at trying to solve the same problem you are now having with my Jetta 2001, one day I found out that the temperature's sensor, through which the cooling liquid runs, had oil in its exterior. It was dirty due to a previous tuning, so I removed the connector to clean it and the failure disappeared. I really don't know how this can affect the starting, but I cleaned certainly deeply that connector, which has 4 pins, and the vehicle started as if nothing had happened. I then bought the sensor and the problem was finally solved.

Thank you, siller for reading and sharing your experience. After trying different things, I myself removed the crankshaft's sensor, took it to a good electrician and he said it was not working properly. I then bought a new one, installed it and it finally started.

Many failures SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 1999  135000 miles
The first failure in my car appeared from one day to the other. It was working perfectly one night, but the following morning it wouldn't start. There was some engine work but I could not start driving it. It seemed as though there was a fuel deficit, but it had been refuelled the day before. I checked the fuel pump, and surprisingly found out there was no sparking, so I logically thought the problem was with the coil. I changed it but it kept doing the same thing. I then checked relays, fuses and that there was electrical current reaching the coil and everything was ok. The crankshaft's senso… Read complete

I've changed the distributor and it seems as though the problem has been solved. At least for the past two days it has been working perfectly. Thank you very much!

Stalls SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 2001  55000 miles
After driving for 20-25 miles, the engine stalls and it won't start again. Only after 4 or 5 hours the car will start again as if nothing had happened. After the same distance, it stalls once more and this happens time after time. It seems as though the engine was suddenly blocked. A new coil was installed but the problem is still there. I would appreciate anyone's help. Thank you.

Hi, you should check the state of the relay number 409, as well as the crankshaft's sensor. You should also verify that the new coil is working properly.

Your problem must be the crankshaft's sensor, located behind the oil's filter.

Car not starting

Volkswagen Jetta 2007 2.5 Wolfsburg edition 189000 miles
The car has been sitting for 8 months bought it for a very good price. I have good fuel pressure 35 , I have fire to all the coils ,plugs look fine, all fuses look good, but nothing just turns over seems like no fire or fuel. What should I do next? Also it had a po721 service code which I knew about I need to replace the output shaft speed sensor. No other codes

Won’t accelerate

Volkswagen Jetta 2012 Sedan, 2.5L SE 260000 miles
The car starts but idles rough. After driving it a few feet the accelerator will stop working. Shows engine codes for a cylinder 2 misfire and a MAF issue. Have tried changing spark plugs, coils, sensors and gaskets and nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Stalling, Sputtering.

Volkswagen Jetta 2015 Jetta S 2.0 126850 miles
Sometimes stalling when stopped or sputtering when accelerating from stopped. Comes and goes but get's more frequent in the drive. Got a code P0131 02 Sensor 1. I replaced it, same issue. I unplug the 02 sensor and it will run. I thought it was the harness on the vehicle and had dealership take a look. They did an overlay on it "as a start". They said it was done, I kept asking about the 02 sensor before pick up. "It's good, we drove it, etc.". After pick up about 12 miles later I stall/sputter. They say it's the ECM and Cat. Converter.

Looking for second opinion.
I've replaced spark plugs, wires, coil. MAF, MAP sensors. Purge valve.
