Lights flicker and transmission fails

Honda Civic 2000  115000 miles
Whenever I start driving my Honda Civic 2000, I can feel a hard knock in the transmission and both the "check engine" and the d4 lights stay on. Even more, at the beginning it has lots of trouble to speed up. As code p0753 appeared, I changed the shift control solenoid but everything remained the same. I then checked the fuses under the dashboard and noticed that there was one blown fuse in position number 15. Once I change it, the lights and transmission return to normal, but after driving for a while the same fuse melts and the problem returns. Can anyone help me? Thank you in advance.

You've got a short circuit. You should track the wiring.

I own a Civic 2002 and the d4 light flickers only when the engine is overheated. What can it be?
Becca from United States 11 years ago
You should scan the transmission so that the correct diagnosis is made.

I had the same problem in my 2006 Ridgeline. Repair shop did not use the honda authorized transmission fluid. Had to put in a used transmission and it has over 300k miles. My new 2019 Ridgeline began having transmission problems at 50k where the gears were slipping to a lower gear with normal acceleration. The fix was to change the fluid, added a cleaner, and changed it again. Next change was at 100k and I have not experienced any more problems. Ridgeline is currently at 130k miles. Plan on changing it again at 150k.

Hybrid Honda civic 2005 SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 2005  150000 miles
Suddenly many functions stopped working: the alarm is out of order, the door locks do not respond to their button, the interior light turns on at any moment, the hybrid system seems to be always discharged, leds from the gears flicker, the entrance for the scanner doens't work and even the stereo turns off. There are no burnt fuses, any idea what it may be?

Open the hood or bonnet and there you will find some other fuses. There is one called "backup" or something similar. That one usually burns out.
augie20 from United States 11 years ago
Thank you earnest. Checked that and the problem is: fuse that I introduce, it is burnt out.

You must have a short circuit in the wiring. Is there something you have recently installed on your car? That could be the cause.
augie20 from United States 11 years ago
The last installation was the scanner and it is not working since then. The short circuit could be in its plug, right earnest?
earnest from United States 11 years ago
Most probably. You should check whether it is damaged or shorted, otherwise you'll have to change the scanner connector.
augie20 from United States 11 years ago
You were right, there was a short circuit in the connector. Thanks for your help.

Engine turns, but won't start

Honda Civic 2000 Civic dx 200000 miles
I have gone through the electrical, new starter, new distributor, new battery, as well as plugs and wires. Even while trying to jump it, nothing happens. Only thing I can think of that could be it, would be the neutral safety switch. But I thought of that too late. My car is now snowed in. Is there possibly anything else I could have missed? Any questions to help clarify diagnose the problem, I am happy to answer. I've been scratching my head on this for a while.

Might be the timing not just the belt but the whole timing
Defmunkee from United States 2 years ago
Would you care to elaborate?
I am not sure of what you mean, timing as in my spark, belt going back to the water pump, or another I am unfamiliar with. I am not meaning to be crass or anything of the sort, but "timing" is a bit unspecific to move forward on.

Usually when a Civic 2001 takes long to start the problem is in the sensors concerning the sparkling, which are the camshaft's and crankshaft's sensor. If you want to make sure, use a scanner as it generally gives the exact error code.
persephone from United States 11 years ago
Thanks for your comment, I will take it to be checked with the scanner as you said.
brenda from United States 11 years ago
I had the same problem and solved it by welding the main relay entirely. It is located in one of the sides, aligned with the fuse box. Here is a picture: https://www.google.com.sv/search?q=hon…

D4 light blinking and power loss

Honda Civic 1996  210000 miles
I've got some issues with my Honda Civic 96. One day the d4 light in the dashboard started blinking and the vehicle started jerking a bit when I changed it from P to R. I've been told that the problem was there was some short circuit in the wiring that reached the speed sensor. An original connector was installed in the car and the light stopped blinking, but only for 2 km. I was then told that the oil was responsible for blocking the speed sensor and that the transmission needed a full repair. I could not afford this kind of service so I kept driving it and came into another problem: a consid… Read complete

I own a Civic 2000 and when this happened to me, I was informed that there was a thick missing wire that connects the battery to the engine. Once it was installed, the accelerator worked properly and the d4 stopped blinking, but unfortunately this only lasted 4 days. The problem has returned, and I believe it is an electronic matter.

I-Shift fault

Honda Civic 2007 Hatchback 1.8 petrol, semi-automatic  142000 miles
Car was driving fine and then the i-Shift fault came up, lost all power and car went into Neutral. Unable to shift into drive. After 4hrs and a drained battery, jump started the car and fault cleared. Managed to drive it for 3 minutes, then same i-Shift fault came up.
The next day, tried topping up brake and transmission fluid, cleared the fault drove for 30 seconds and i-Shift came back, then the PGM-FI fault. Car will turn on but engine won't turn on. What could be the cause, and any possible fixes?

Replace the belt

Honda Civic 2007 Engine 230000 miles
The belt in my car is old and worn out. It has visible signs of aging, such as cracks, fraying, and discoloration. This deterioration could lead to reduced performance or even belt failure, which may affect the operation of essential engine components like the alternator, power steering, and air conditioning. To prevent further damage and ensure the reliability of my vehicle, I need to replace the belt as soon as possible.

Overheating

Honda Civic 2004 Ex coupe 180500 miles
I just bought a used 2004 Honda civic ex coupe and it started overheating. The previous owner said that he replaced the radiator, timing belt, water pump, etc. And gave me the old timing belt as proof. I replaced the thermostat to see if that was the issues but it was not. When I open the radiator cap to add coolant it is never full. Any ideas?
