Engine stalls on left turn, doesnt die, but no throttle response.

Honda CR-V 2016 CRV LX, front wheel drive 76000 miles
Engine intermittently stalls on left turn. Continues to run, but no throttle response. No codes. Otherwise flawless operation. Could this be TPMS related?

Hey, about that weird issue with your 2016 CR-V stalling on left turns. I did some digging into what could be causing it. First off, you can rule out the TPMS. That system just handles tire pressure and isn't tied into your engine or throttle controls at all, so it wouldn't cause the car to cut out. Since it only happens when you turn left and isn't throwing any Check Engine codes, it's almost definitely something physically shifting from the weight of the car cornering. Here are the top three things we should look at:
1 A Cracked Air Intake Hose (My main suspect): This is super common on these Hondas. The big rubber hose between your air box and the engine gets brittle and cracks inside the folds. When you turn left, the engine shifts on its mounts, pulling that crack wide open and letting in a bunch of extra air. It totally blindsides the computer and kills your throttle response, but closes right back up when you straighten out before a code can even pop up. Pop the hood and physically flex that rubber hose to see if it's torn inside the pleats. 2 A Loose Wire or Ground: There could be a wiring harness or a ground wire near the steering column or engine bay that lost its mounting clip. When you swing left, the wires might be swinging just enough to momentarily tug a connection loose or short out the throttle signal. 3 Fuel Sloshing: Does this only happen when you're low on gas? If you're under a quarter tank, a sharp left turn could be sloshing all the fuel away from the pump for a split second, causing it to suck air and lose fuel pressure. If it happens on a full tank, it's definitely not this. Check that rubber intake hose first!
Dan P from United States 3 months ago
I checked wiring in steering/engine/wheel assy. I also checked air intake path. Nothing was found. This does happen at any fuel level. It is intermittent, starts about 25% into a left turn, stops at about 75% through the turn, when coming out of the turn. Had problem since I bought it used 8 years ago with 12k mi. 76k mi. On it now. Hasnt gotten worse or better. The TPMS system uses wheel speed sensors and that signal is fed to the TPMS, ABS, Traction Control System, Throttle Control, among others. Its difficult to t/s since it only happens intermittently, esp. When making a left turn in front of oncoming traffic, when speed and control are of particular importance.
Dan P from United States 3 months ago
As with most intermittent car problems, I cant get it to fail when I need to troubleshoot it. I did happen once though, but the only thing notable was that it happened with traction control on (normal condition). I want to see if it fails with traction control off as well, if I can get it to fail again.

After a new windshield was put in the battery drained, and the car won SolvedSolved

Honda CR-V 2015 Ex 90000 miles
I gave Safelite technician the keys to my 2015 CRV. I requested specifically not to replace my windshield wipers as my right wiper did not work. After installation he handed me the keys, and I noticed that the headlights seemed dim and wondered why he had left them on, but didn’t say anything. Within an hour I attempted to start the car and leave. The car would not start. It would not even turn over. IAlso all the dashboard lights were flashing even ones I had never seen before. I noticed that now the windshield wiper worked. I charge the battery with my own battery charger. I called in a AAA… Read complete

Wow, no comments I thought somebody would have had some idea why the car won’t start directly after the windshield was installed. The Honda technician online said that my battery was discharged and told me to get a jumpstart for 15 minutes and keep it running, but I did that and I also even got a whole new battery. The car turns over but does not finish. It’s like the gas goes to the ignition, but it doesn’t finish throwing up lol

Getting code P1381 randomly

Honda CR-V 1998 2.0L AWD 240000 miles
We are having problem with P1381 already replaced spark plugs, cables, checked the alternator, replaced the distributor, cleaned all the sensors attached to the throttle body my son said he just gets the code when the car is warm and it is hot outside (Texas 100F) Does anybody have any idea about what should we check next. Car stalls when you go to accelerate after fully stopping and shoots the code but starts right up and runs fine. Got the code a while ago, swapped a lot of stuff and car worked fine for 2 weeks.

Air Con not working.

Honda CR-V 2006 2.2 diesel manual 88000 miles
I've just bought this CR-V (I already have a petrol automatic that I'll be selling) but there AC died not work. I suspect the pump rather than no gas, but I first wanted to check that the relay and fuse were ok. I'm unable to find the correct fuse/relay diagram anywhere: there seem to be variations and they're all slightly different.

I have the same problem: when I turn on the AC in the morning it works perfectly, but as soon as I start driving the car it stops working. The mechanic says the compressor needs to be replaced.
WRobinson from Great Britain 3 months ago
Thank you. I'm taking it to the mechanic this morning for a diagnostic. However, in the meantime I managed to source a fuse box layout for this model that I will try to post on here as this particular one is not readily available on the internet.

Possible that it’s a parasitic leak in your electrical system. Check that the grounding cable isn’t corroded.

Multiple issues

Honda CR-V 1999 Honda CRV LX 132000 miles
Multiple symptoms, rough starting, engine kills in drive, reverse, idle, neutral... possible ecm/pcm damage due to battery being installed backwards (reverse polarity sparking)
Also possible damage to drive train after car was towed in park on a dolly. IAC valve, O2 sensor, PCV valve, hose leaks, toggle position sensor?

Any suggestions? Still unresolved...only code it's throwing (once) was IAC valve. Horrible smelling fuel and smoke when driving even though I had fuel tank drained and fresh oil change. Having it towed to mechanic next week... could be damaged transmission, gear box, drive train, electronic issue, who knows! My gut tells it's a combo of transmission damage and drive train/breaks damage from a bad tow job. Not sure yet.

Same problem here except in my 01 crv abs fusebox at the #6 spot where the positive wire goes from battery to this fuse box and is screwed in well that metal part that u put the screw through then tighten broke off so the circle hole part of the metal fuse piece sticking out of fuse box is 1 piece with the positive wire now and the screw with it but check if yours is broken or loose if u even have the same abs box it's #6 if u take fusebox apart and look at the bottom so I ended up drilling a hole in the metal piece still in fusebox and just running the wire through that so eliminated the screw and guess what !? Still no fix I have same issue u do 4 new alternators it can't be it I've run through 8 new batteries since I've had to keep charging them it messes them up a lot any update for you?

Perdida de potencia

Honda CR-V 2011 K24 173000 miles

How to locate, open, clean, and reinstall oxygen sensor

Bill from United States 4 months ago
This may take some back and forth motion. They make a special socket for the O2 sensor or oxygen sensor. Start the motor and let it get up to operation temperature. Then spray some penetrating oil at the base of the oxygen sensor where it goes into your exhaust manifold. Push then pull a little at a time until it works its way to lose. Then keep doing the same thing even though it's loose do the back and forth motion until it comes all the way out. Then you may want to clean the threads on the exhaust manifold with a wire brush and clean the threads on the O2 sensor or oxygen sensor. They make a oxygen sensor cleaner to spray on and to clean 02 sensor. Only use this to clean the O2 sensor end that goes in the motor. When reinstalling use some anti-seize you can pick this up at the parts store when you get the cleaner for the O2 sensor and the socket for the O2 sensor. Do not get the end dirty with the anti-seize that goes back into the manifold. Or it will either go bad or will give the fuel management system on your car bad readings. Sometimes you just have to replace the O2 sensor if you're not getting stable and usable readings. If the readings are really high or really low and very erratic then you may want to look at replacing that O2 sensor.
