Too much play in steering wheel

I've noticed that while driving, especially at a fast speed, that there is way too much free play in my wheel. If I am going around a curve at a high speed , I have to grip the wheel in order for the truck to not take itself into another lane. Sometime when just driving straight you can still feel the steering wheel pull from you. I took to get a alignment, but none was needed.

I just change the torque sensor in the steering wheel did everything right that i saw in a youtube video. Now when i was back out of my drive way i turned the streering left and it pulled left hard by itself almost broke my wrist. It also happens when i steer right.

My steering wheel buttons work to use radio but radio panel no lights and no power , can’t use buttons on my radio at all

Yes I replaced it with a touch screen system…. Super easy…. Check it out on u tube
@ScottWhat touch screen did you get, the one I got has incompatible plugs

My 2012 escape does that so I shut the car off then start it up again and back to normal

09 escape with 120k miles and the power steering torque sensor is defective. Ford wont fix even tho it was a recall years ago
