To test the alternator of a 2013 Ford Edge SEL, you can use a multimeter to measure voltage at the battery while the engine is running and with accessories turned on and off. A properly functioning alternator should provide a voltage between 13.5 and 14.5 volts when the engine is running. You can also try a quick test by starting the engine and disconnecting the negative battery terminal; the engine should continue to run if the alternator is working.
1. Initial Voltage Check (Engine Off):
Set your multimeter to DC voltage (20V range).
Connect the positive (red) lead to the positive battery terminal and the negative (black) lead to the negative battery terminal.
The reading should be around 12.6 volts, indicating a fully charged battery.
2. Voltage Check with Engine Running:
Start the engine.
Recheck the voltage at the battery terminals. A healthy alternator should produce a voltage between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.
If the voltage is below 13.5 volts, the alternator may be undercharging.
If the voltage is above 14.7 volts, the alternator may be overcharging.
3. Load Test:
With the engine running, turn on the headlights, high beams, and wipers.
Observe the voltage reading again. It should not drop below 13 volts, even with the added load.
Turn on the air conditioning and observe the voltage again.

With the engine running, carefully disconnect the negative battery terminal.
If the engine continues to run smoothly, the alternator is likely functioning properly.

Mine constantly shows 15.1 to 15.4. 3rd battery in 4 years. 2021 edge sel.
In a 12-volt system that is very high, and you can be cooking your batteries. If you are unable to adjust the alternator to a proper charging level, then I suggest getting batteries that you can add distilled water to. This way you can keep the batteries watered and they last longer.
Your proper fix is to adjust or replace that alternator, you can go to most auto parts stores, and they should have testers for your alternator to ensure you are doing the right thing.

I've taken it to the dealer and spoken to the service writers several times about this. They say it's normal, but I'm on my third battery in 4 years. They're paying for them though because I have extended warranty. Their dime!
That is disappointing, and dealers wonder why no one trust them.

The battery got drained due to a phone charging with key on overnight. Since the the Alternator has been a mess... ive charged my battery up a couple times,and only started it in my driveway. I've checked fuses and connections...and battery. Still no good. Im wonder if it is the pcm,voltage regulator, or bad ground.
