It might be that your engine requires an internal cleaning removing the crankcase and washing the whole throttle body. It might even stall and shutt off because of this problems

Was looking at this thread because I had this problem a few years ago-4-5 years. Remove and clean the throttle body. My 2005 F-150 started doing it again last night. It's intermittent at first then more often until you clean the throttle body. Hope this helps!

Hmm, there HAS to be some slippage when turning in 4x4 because the front and rear and side to side tires travel different distances. I suspect the suspension has nothing to do with the sliding, the rattling noise is probably just normal.

2018 F-150 5.0 - Engine Rattle and Oil Consumption

Ford F-150 2018 5.0 Coyote 127000 miles
I have a 2018 Ford F-150 5.0L. My truck has developed an engine rattle, especially at idle and when letting off the accelerator. I've also noticed that the engine oil level slowly drops over time. While inspecting the engine, I found a small amount of oil around what appears to be a sensor or electrical component on the front driver's side valve cover. I cleaned the area, but after a few weeks a small amount of oil came back. There are no visible oil leaks underneath the truck and there is currently no check engine light. Has anyone experienced these same symptoms? What ended up being the cause?

Could be broken timing parts as far as slides and guides and your chain is slapping inside of the front of the casing on the front of the motor as that sensor is either your VCT or your cam sensor it syncs with the crank sensor I’m not sure which one a coyote has. I’ve never owned one, but if you’ve got a really loud rattle at idle, and when you let off that normally means either phases or timing or really badly it could be a bad rocker/bent lifter where the rocker bearing wore out and bitch just popped out of place and or bent to lift a rod basically and just enough to make it hit the sidewall of its guide just enough to make a rattle bit more than likely it’s either your phaser Bank two phaser or your whole timing set. Definitely get a lift as soon as possible. Otherwise it could a new engine minimum.

Go on YouTube and search for FordTechMakuloco. He had one video showing how to secure a stainless steel band clamp to stop this. He even gives the exact size you need and the best way to install it. It’s a problem that’s been showing up more frequently.

Rattle on cold start

Heavy rattle on cold start that quiets a little with a couple quick revs. Stays until the engine is hot. While it's still cold the rattle is very loud until it upto or over 3rd gear.

Rough idle, cat rattle

Ford F-150 2000 F-150 5.4 v8 105000 miles
Driving me nuts. When cold, engine is completely fine. Once its warmed up after 5 minutes or so, a stumbling idle, hesitant to leave from a stop, drive side front cat is visibly shaking only when in gear, smells rich.

Have replaced exhaust manifold stud (they were broken), pcv valve (helped but didnt solve), and have conducted vacuum test and exhaust leak test and nothing. New coil packs and sparkplugs a while ago. No codes. At a complete loss.

Rattling noise that takes out electronics

Ford F-150 2008 5.4l supercrew xlt 280000 miles
So whenever im driving, especially in conditions when there is either a lot of moisture on the road, or im going uphill and slightly underpowered, the truck starts making a rattling noise. Sometimes it will be consistent and not do much except give me a battery light, but other times it will escalate, become very loud, and take out the electronics in the car (information cluster, Bluetooth, windows etc). It does not affect the driving but i can sometimes feel the vibrations escalating through my accelerator. Transmission is good, rear brakes are new. What could it be?

Usually when the heater is on full blast to warm up the cab.

When gear is then put in drive, and accelerating you can hear the same sound for about 45 secs. But only happens on acceleration. Feel like it's the fuel line

On my 2005 F150 that I just had the transmission rebuilt on. They found a stuck valve on in valve body which causes the drum to break. The drum is poorly designed and they make a better one to replace it with.

Mine does that but after I’ve drove it for a while. It runs fine when It first starts but after a while it will jerk when I let off the gas and if I stop at a red light, when I hit the gas it jerks hard like it’s going to stop! I thought a while back I was having issues with the transmission temperature sensor because of hard cranks after a lon drive and letting it sit! Could it be the same issue? I plan on changing it out and changing the fluid since it has high miles anyway.

It vibrates and the engine shakes SolvedSolved

Ford F-150 2009  90000 miles
When my pick up goes over a ramp or hill, it starts to make a rattling noise, as if it doesn't have any oil. If I leave it like that the engine starts vibrating badly, I have to accelerate it briefly for it to go back to normal. And now this is happening more often; I hope anybody can help me or have some experience with this, thanks!

You have to diagnose it, maybe the oil pump is not working correctly, or the crankshaft is work out

syphorous25 from United States 11 years ago
These engines have a big defect: the gears in the camshaft wear out and damage easily, and then they make a noise as if they were diesel. I had 4 of these trucks and in all I had to change the gears, and then the problem is solved.
melvin from United States 11 years ago
I took it to the dealership and they said it was the timing kit, luckily I sold it and bought the new 2015 model.

It's very sluggish SolvedSolved

Ford F-150 2000  200000 miles
It rattles and it's very sluggish, as if something was missing. I changed the oil filter, spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body and it's still the same. The spark plugs I used are normal cheap ones, not platinum, and I calibrated them to 0.52, now it starts quickly, before it took a while. What can I do so it recovers acceleration and feels quick again?

You have to check the gas pressure in the fuel rail, this is very delicate and with a few pounds everything is already off. I had that problem with a King Ranch that didn't go over 70, I changed the fuel pump and that was it.

No power to A/C clutch relay

Ford F-150 2012 3.5L Ecoboost 4 door shortbed 62000 miles
I parked my truck A/C was working fine. Next morning started it up no A/C. After I did some troubleshooting the determination is fuse 30 (A/C clutch power10 A) in the power distribution box is good. I dig up some wiring diagrams and start through it. The load side of fuse 30 should have a internal (in the power distribution box) jumper to pin 3 (switch leg) on relay # 23 (fan clutch relay). I start it up, turn A/C on, I pull relay 23, check pin 3 nothing there. I go ahead and run thru the rest of the circuits. Relay 23 coil pin 1 is hot, I check pin 1 to pin 2 I show power across pin 1 and pin… Read complete

Hi! I have a similar issue with one of my new F-150. The sunroof rattles on the passenger side whenever you go over a small bump in the road. At the beginning It wasn't that bad, but It got worse in the last weeks. I took it to the dealer and they were not sure what it was, but they could hear it. After keeping the truck 2 days, they returned it to me with the noise almost gone, although I can still hear it softly, just like when it first started. They said they took the glass out of another new truck on the lot and swapped them. They say it was fixed... I'm not that sure about it. Time will tell!

Sorry to write this but Ford dealer technicians can't fix anything , always it's normal for this trucks !! I hate hearing this , now I have water gushing in from my moon roof glad ( when I go to car wash I am hearing water fall ) it's good that there is drainage it takes water down and out how about if that drainage is clogged ? I had many vehicles over the years with moon roof or sunroof never had any problem like now , frustrated of my decision buying f150 lariat

Multiple random misfire code 0300

Ford F-150 2013  75600 miles
While driving the engine just lost power. When you depress the acclerator it was as you are not getting any fuel. I had it towed to a shop, the shop said they diagnosed the problem and it was the fuel pump, it was not getting the right amout of pressure. They replaced the fuel pump. When I picked up the truck it had a little rattle when changing gears, the mechanic said that the computer may needed to be reset! Drove the vehicle for a day and it shut down again with the same problems. Had to have it towed back to the shop.

I have the same problem. It happens randomly, a lot of times after rain or sitting for days without starting. When it happens, the check engine light comes on and the truck has no acceleration. I turn off the truck and wait a few minutes, then it runs fine. The check engine light disappears after a while most times. It's a very confusing situation. I've changed the coil packs, the plugs and wires. It still does it periodically.
