97 Ford explorer 4.0 manual RWD 2dr SolvedSolved

Ford Explorer 1997  107000 miles
No crank no start. Several issues have risen since the truck originally brokedown. At some point someone insisted on pushing in the clutch pedal to switch gears but only snapped the plastic shaft going to slave cylinder and electronic switch. Additionally they broke part of the clutch switch although it does still connect. Another issue was that the neg terminal wire was grounded to the outside of the starter which I'm not sure but did that cause wiring issues. Unfortunately on top of that just below the ignition cylinder there was a single black wire that is connected to some type of connector that mounts to make contact with the cylinder itself that no longer is as attached

So I managed to fix grounding issues at starter, replaced some fuses and placement of the entire fuse box fuses, jumped my battery and started my truck at the solenoid. However even with shifter making it seem as if it's in gear the truck won't move???

Trouble starting

Ford Explorer 1997 4L v6 sohc 76000 miles
When you put the key in ignition and turn to start the car will not start, you turn the key to off and remove the key all the dash lights stay on only way to turn them off is disconnect the battery. We can start the car with a wire from battery to starter relay but it will not switch off and carries on running even with key out so we have to pull the battery lead off or unplug the ignition switch. The ignition switch and ignition barrel have been replaced but this has not solved the problem. Any help will be appreciated

Started with turn Signals

Ford Explorer 1999 Automatic 4WD, 3.9l v-6 205000 miles
It started with the turn signals I change the fuse for the turn signals three times within 2 days. Then all of sudden the hazards and turn signals weren't working but the fuse was fine. I tried looking stuff up on the internet at that moment and seemed mentioning of I believe it's called the hazard relay but it's under the dash directly above the OBD2 hook up. So I unplugged it, took it off took it into AutoZone to see if they had a new part and I was just going to buy a brand new relay to to replace it. But they didn't have one so I took the old one back out plug it back up and all of a sudde… Read complete

My guess would be a bad ground to the dash panel somewhere, or a damaged wire that is grounding intermittently. Also try a new flasher unit.

This may sound crazy but I had the same issue. Turns out the cigarette lighter adapter for USB charging was bad. I went through wiring and fuses nothing helped until I unplugged my USB adapter then everything started working properly. Got a new adapter and everything still works

The engine won't start

Ford Explorer 2013 2.0 Eco Boost 62137 miles
Thank you in advance. I have a question about my 2013 Ford Explorer (early model). (I'm Japanese, and the following is a translation. ) The other day, my engine suddenly stalled while I was out in a parking lot. The warning message said "oil pressure low" (I think), so I wondered if the engine oil was low... I checked the oil gauge, but it was only slightly low? Maybe? It seemed like a reasonable level, so I figured it was fine. That said, even after turning the key back on, the engine wouldn't start, no matter how hard I tried. Because of the location, I couldn't even call a van... So I w… Read complete

Changed the oil pressure sensor, the should fix the problem. If the doesn’t fix it is the oil pressure pump.

The CPU is not communicating with the OBD2 scanner

I took my 2003 Ford Explorer Sport XLT for a smog check. He hooked up an OBD2 scanner to show me there's no communication between the scanner and they CPU!! He failed my smog test and re - test after I get the problem fixed within 30 days. Headlights and Windows both not working

Ford Explorer 2003 XLT 99788 miles
Started having electrical problems after removing factory running boards. Found a broken body to frame ground on drivers side, replaced it, still nothing. Fuses check out, wiring in door jamb good, changed window master switch, still nothing. Changed headlight bulbs, still nothing. Also, keeps blowing fuse 20 inside, 5a, for drivers seat switch, bsm, sunload sensor. I believe it’s a ground issue as when taking the boards off I had to really use force due to rust. I looked around both sides but only found that one broken strap. I also did some body work on the rockers and used some screws to… Read complete

Sync touch screen display flickering

Ford Explorer 2017 Limited 220000 miles
My sync touch screen display flickers non stop. SOMETIMES, when it is cold (e. I winter start up) it will not flicker on and off, but when the vehicle warm it starts to flicker again. This is not always consistent when its cold and sometimes its flickering the second the vehicle starts up. I have removed the touch screen and checked that all the wiring attached to it is in place but that has not resolved the issue.

Hard start when it’s cold outside

Ford Explorer 1999 5.0l v8 Eddie Bauer edition  109000 miles
In winter months it struggles to start, I often have to give it gas for it to get going. I never let my tank get below 1/2 to hopefully prolong the life of my fuel pump because i don’t think i could drop the gas tank in my driveway on jack stands. Is there anything else it could be besides the pump? I’ve replaced all plugs, wires, battery already

Truck still runs, but it is missing on cylinder number three

Ford Explorer 2003 Sport trac 278000 miles
Truck runs at idle but rough. Codes indicate misfire on cylinder three and misfire within the first 1000 revolutions of Start. Have also pulled codes that says fuel rail one and fuel rail two are to rich/lean but there are no other codes.

The spark plugs in the picture are from cylinder one and three and are labeled in the pictures.

I have changed out coil pack, plugs, wires and fuel injector on cylinder number three and one will be doing the next ones tomorrow. It made no change to the idle or driving.

If anybody else has anything else they can think of, please let me know. It’s my only vehicle that I need to get it back to running well

My AC will not blow cold. I will just blow whatever temp is outside. Heat works fine. I replaced the outside sensor in front of the grill, the sensor on the inside under the steering wheel and replaced fuses and relays. The compressor will not turn on HOWEVER it WILL turn on if I jump the relay terminal with some wire. I have tried 3 different relays.

SPOUT shorting bar location on V8 5L. Can't find the blasted thing.

Ford Explorer 1999 Ford Explorer Limited  196000 miles
I'm trying to check for anything obvious that could cause my problem right now. The car jerks and stumbles really badly while going down the road with light pressure on the accelerator. I've changed the spark plugs, wires, and one of two coil packs. I may need to change the other one, but I want to check the base timing first. Therefore, I need to find the shorting bar. There is a small part (Ford no. F6AF-18801-AA) attached to a coil mounting screw. This is NOT it! Lots of folks on the web have misidentified this RFI cap as the SPOUT shorting bar.
