The relay is powered up and activated thanks to a small electrical current. When it is activated, it lets a current that is much bigger than the original one flow through other two outlets. It is used to control the headlights, the rear fog light, the electric fan, etc.
Replaced the bulb (Sylvania H7) & also tried exchanging the working bulb from the right low beam. Didn't fix it. Checked the 4 fuses that control the lights (40, 57, 100, 167). All look good. Still not working. The light bulb wires look like new. Is there a relay used for the lights? Read on Bimmerpost that there isn't one and the lights are controlled by the FEM. Any other suggestions on what to check? Thanks
No, I haven't. No one has come forward with suggestions yet so I'm now going to replace the fuses despite them looking OK and assume there is no relay for the headlights. I'm with you... trying to avoid the dealership if I can. I still am waiting for them to schedule the fix for the recall issued last October.
Brian H7 bulbs are halogen bulbs and do not have a ballast on them... im dealing with this issue myself i've gone through the fuses and they're good testing for voltage at the bulb connection getting nothing so far. Will update to see what i find
My car won't start even when I replaced the idle control valve, injectors, rubber intake pipe. The summer I got it it ran and after that sometimes it would fire up but it was really rare. The ECU relay is clicking when I connect the battery, some said it's not ok but the car ran only when the relay clicked when I connected the battery.Any suggestions or repair manuals would be helpful
(I'm working on the car for 3 years and I can't figure out the problem,I learned a lot about the car itself and from what I heard it's a rare car BC the combination of the engine and manufacturing date.Maybe that's why there aren't any informations about it)
@Ali89No sorry, have not found the problem. My motor had a little bit coolant in the oil too, so I bought a 318is motor instead of throwing any more time and money at the M40 motor.
Conseguí un e36 al que el anterior dueño le quito el motor m44 y le pusimos un motor m40 el motor que tiene lo vi encendido en el auto donante pero ya en el este no enciende. Alguien me da algun consejo?
Im having a problm with my N20, its not starting and its picking injection relay and ignition relay fault...now im trying to find where to locate those relays and i failed...changed all fuse box and no change , changed the DME also , no chance aswell
