Ground strap to battery has voltage on it. SolvedSolved

Honda Civic 1998 Ex coupe  260000 miles
While driving on the freeway I noticed the engine light was blinking, but only three blinks then a pause of about 20 seconds then 3 more blinks. At that point I had been driving a total of about 7 minutes. Roughly 4 off and 3 or so on the freeway. The car drove fine this whole time/ nothing to make me even think of the light coming on so I kept driving (about 15 more minutes home) knowing that it's not what's is suggested. Anyhow I got home went in to eat and came out to hook up my scanner (Autel AL519) will no luck. I started the car to collect info on scanner of live feed, but the scanner do… Read complete

Best answer (according to Energized Ground Strap)
Energized Ground Strap from United States 3 years ago
After a long week of testing circuits and searching for a grounded wire somewhere I had the electrical hooked back up with just the alternator unhooked. Once I hooked that up it caused the voltage on the ground strap to rise and become stronger. So I replaced the alternator and that fixed the energized ground strap issue. I have an idle issue now along with strange driving conditions so I'm waiting to see if it throws a code for something failing. I've driven almost 200 miles though so I'm not sure if a code is going to be presented.

New battery, lights and radio come on.

Honda Civic 2000 4 cylinder LX 123000 miles
I just put a new battery in my LX and it still won't start. I listened for sounds, no clicks. All of the dash warning lights, headlights, radio, and even AC come on when I turn the key, but no vroom vroom. Strange thing is the hazards lights start blinking and won't go off, not even when I turn the car off. After wiggling the turn signal stick a little and pressing the hazard button in a few times it cuts off. But when I open the door of the car the hazards come on again, and are accompanied by ding ding sound like when door is ajar--even after door is shut. I was thinking electrical problem

2012 Honda Civic Coupe - Issue After Replacing Battery

Honda Civic 2012 Coupe 66000 miles
My car sat all winter. I just replaced the battery, and now warning lights remain ON. The stereo won't work, either...nothing happens when I press "Source" and nothing happens when I try to turn on the radio/CD player.
I am afraid to drive the vehicle, but it was in perfect working condition when I last drove it.
Through my research, I learned a few things...it could be sensors or fuses. Or, I could drive it around and see if the lights go off?

I need advice!

I've had this happen to two different cars before. There's a part specific name for it, but it's nothing more that a rubber grommet/pad that seperates the activator behind the brake pedal pad to the arm of the pedal. When the two connect when bake is applied it completes a circuit connection which turns your brake light on. When the pressure is disengaged the circuit is released so the light turns off. Since it's a little piece or rubber it's prone over time to dry up and break off (I bet if you looked on the driver's floor board you would have found a piece of rubber). Just any little piece from your 'junk drawer' or kiddie's playbox can be used so long as it's small enough to fit where it goes. The first time I had this happen was with my 1999 Honda Civic EX. Good luck!

Battery light almost always on the dash

Honda Civic 2013 Lx 150000 miles
So I bought this civic, used, in 2018 and never really had issues with anything. Around 2020-2021 my dash screen would say "check charge system" after about 20ish minutes of driving. Never noticed any power loss or anything like that. I've been through 2 batteries plus the one thats in the car now (I think) so I think the batteries are lasting the time they should? Once the battery light comes on that day then it'll be on until its off and sitting in my parking lot for the night. Autozone and O'Reilly's says my alternator is still charging the battery and theres nothing wrong with or without the battery light on. Could it be the positive terminal since it has some kind of system or circuit board at the positive terminal?

It sounds like there could be a few different issues with your Honda Civic. The radio and CD player not working, the central locking system malfunctioning, and the battery issues could all be related or separate problems.
It is possible that the battery with dead cells is causing the electrical problems in the vehicle, including the radio and CD player, and the central locking system. If the battery is weak, it may not be providing enough power to all of the electrical components, which can result in them not functioning properly.
However, it is also possible that there is a separate issue with the electrical system, such as a wiring problem, a blown fuse, or a problem with the alternator. In this case, a new battery would not solve the problem.
I would recommend having a professional mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose the issue and recommend the necessary repairs. They can perform a full electrical system check to determine the root cause of the problem and ensure that all of the components are functioning properly.

Thanks Bruce. I will get it checked out before it gets worse.

This is happening to me. I had starter, battery, alternator replaced and ignition control module. It still is wonky. It goes from am to FM to aux, to not working to turning on and it being very loud and it just beeps and beeps. It's crazy. I believe it's another faulty ignition control module. But the dealership won't even consider it being that. I explained to them that when they first put it in it worked great and after a day it's bad again and now my key fob with new battery does not lock/unlock my car. They key works great but that's my issue. I only have 134k miles.

Engine turns, but won't start

I have gone through the electrical, new starter, new distributor, new battery, as well as plugs and wires. Even while trying to jump it, nothing happens. Only thing I can think of that could be it, would be the neutral safety switch. But I thought of that too late. My car is now snowed in. Is there possibly anything else I could have missed? Any questions to help clarify diagnose the problem, I am happy to answer. I've been scratching my head on this for a while.

I am not sure of what you mean, timing as in my spark, belt going back to the water pump, or another I am unfamiliar with. I am not meaning to be crass or anything of the sort, but "timing" is a bit unspecific to move forward on.

Current leaks through underhood fuse number 23

Honda Civic 2006 Coupe  173000 miles
My car is a 2006 Honda Civic 8 coupe from Canada. One day, it wouldn't start. I bought a new battery, but a couple of days later, the same thing happened again. I grabbed a multimeter I started looking for the problem. The generator produces 14V at idle and at 2000 RPM. I started checking for a current leak. I connected a multimeter between the battery and the ground terminal. I started disconnecting all the fuses. The leak was located on fuse number 23 under the hood.
