On my 2005 F150 that I just had the transmission rebuilt on. They found a stuck valve on in valve body which causes the drum to break. The drum is poorly designed and they make a better one to replace it with.
513F150 from United States 6 years ago
Mine does that but after I’ve drove it for a while. It runs fine when It first starts but after a while it will jerk when I let off the gas and if I stop at a red light, when I hit the gas it jerks hard like it’s going to stop! I thought a while back I was having issues with the transmission temperature sensor because of hard cranks after a lon drive and letting it sit! Could it be the same issue? I plan on changing it out and changing the fluid since it has high miles anyway.

Transmission failure

Ford F-150 2005  203000 miles
I have problems with the transmission, when I'm driving and I go over 30 mph it stays as if in neutral, and one time I had a blinking stick light (overdrive), but I disconnected the battery and it went away. What can I do? Thanks!

I had the same problem with the overdrive warning light, it could be two things: an electrical failure or a mechanical one inside the trasmission (either the gear cogs or the solenoids), let's hope it is electrical as it is easier to repair. What I did to fix it and you should do is get your user manual, download it if you don't have it, and then check the fuse box on the side of the engine: there is one that is of the transmission sensor, with the help of the manual you can identify it. If it's blown, you only have to change it. Then just pay attention and check it periodically, if it blows again it could be that is overheating either because the oil level is low, or that the oil is too dirty and the filter clogged, in the latter case doing an oil and filter service is what you need. This worked perfectly for me, hope it helps.

Ford 2003 f150 was running hot if go above 50 and get about 2 miles be in the red took thermostat out by passed it , check water pump fuel pump hoses you name it. Worked good for bit then when I turn air on not even quarter down road runs hot. What could it be I’m female and we’ll not much I know but I’m learning help me please?
Donn from United States 3 years ago
Possibly have air trapped in the cooling system. Google that model of engine and see if there is a bleeder for air around the thermostst housing?
Donn from United States 3 years ago
If water passes through too fast without a thermostat at all an engine can overheat as well. Passes thru the system too quickly!
Donn from United States 6 months ago
Yes it doesn’t have time to heat up and build any pressure in the radiator and it will allow air to get in the system. You can try bleeding the air out of your coolant system to see if that helps you get any better heat.
Donn from United States 6 months ago
And yes it will make it overheat.

Fuse 23 powers a lot of sensors and actuators: the torque converter clutch solenoid, electronic pressure control solenoid, shift solenoids, etc. I've seen this problem before: check the wiring harnesses for all four oxygen sensors for heat or chafing damage, and the wires going to the transmission too. Since the fuse is blowing there must be a wire damaged and shorting to ground or one of the named sensors/actuators is shorted. Good luck, let us know when you solve it!

If the sensor actuators are used in any way to power up alarm system ,could be many reasons why truck won't have power and keep blowing. The fuse sir

It was a 10 amp blown fuse located in the passenger compartment fuse box in the truck. Fuse number 14. The brake on/off switch fuse. Weird, but we switched the fuse and its works like it never had an issue. I believe the trailer harness blew the fuse.
unit 14 from United States 4 years ago
So the 10 amp 3 prong fuse that kept blowing and wouldnt let the truck shift. Happened to be a short behind the glove box. Check all fuses and trace your fuse lines.

Gear in transmission slipping SolvedSolved

Ford F-150 2018 Truck 113000 miles
When I am driving and the gear begins to go into second gear, there is a pause, a long drag, and a slow down before it goes into second gear. I took it to several transmission places and they said they would not have time to look at it until the end of October or next year. I took it to a regular auto repair place and he said he doesn't think it's the transmission, but a problem with the computer.

Battery drain SolvedSolved

Ford F-150 2011 Super Crew/5.0L Flex V8 191720 miles
Battery drain, I can put in a new fully charged battery in use the truck for a couple of days as normal. Normal driving distance is less than 60 miles to and from my work site and to a few other places through out the day. By 3rd morning I have to use a jump starter to start the truck. The truck starts fine through out the day. The next morning I have to use jump starter again. I've checked relays, replaced some old cracked fuses in the engine fuse box, disconnected a reese tow unit that I don't use anyways. Found a faulty wiring harness in the left rear driver door, replaced that also. I've not had time with work, and the horrible weather to do much on checking all of the fuses.

Update, worked on blower speed problem. Pulled and tested blower motor and speed selector resistor controller. Controller is defective. Been testing all afternoon, the truck starts, on a very weak battery, sometimes it takes a few tries and a couple minutes of waiting and it starts.
Henry from United States 2 years ago
Put a new controller on, however, it was not new. Got some bad controller that someone returned as good. The store clerks didn't check the return. However, they did swap with me. Got a good controller but have a truck that doesn't start. Waiting for warm days. The drain isn't my blower or temp controller. I think it is the starter or starter ground.
Johnnybjohnny from United States 2 years ago
Similar problem. Everything off yet the blower motor still works without keys and dash gauges move up and down as well as the odometer comes on and off. It like there are current spikes happening. Drains battery within about 3 hours have to jump start it.
Henry from United States 2 years ago
That sounds like a relay locked on for the blower. The rest sounds like loose or bad grounds. Check all ground points you can see, and rust, or corrosion wires clean off. With these new trucks could be anything. I saw one ford with a drain that was bad. The exterior lights, and headlights would come on by themselves intermittently and it was corrosion on two pins in a wire harness not being used inside the dash.
Johnnybjohnny from United States 2 years ago
@HenryThank you for the reply. I’ll see what I can do.
Henry from United States 2 years ago
@JohnnybjohnnyIf you haven't done so, you can check on this site for diagrams of fuse and relay boxes for your ford. Best of luck on fixing your problem.

New Problem - no start, battery good. Truck will start if leave key in ignition for a minute or two and then it cranks. Replaced starter, original starter, badly rusted. Starter had 192K on it. This has the no start issue. Going to swap around relays for starter, and planning on replacing FPDM in rear. Starter was not easy to replace.

Henry from United States a year ago
Issue with Battery Drain, and fail to crank until after a few minutes with key in ignition. Battery Drain was two items - Rusted Starter - Replaced.
Fail to Crank - was Transmissions Shifter Position Sensor. The shifter sensor on the 5.0 V8 Flex is in the transmission. The sensor was failing, and telling the computer that the truck was already in gear. Cars in gear will not start. Cars in Park or Neutral will start. I was told there was something known about this in Ford Tech bulletin or service manual. It would be simple for them to print it in the owners manual.
Steel from United States 10 months ago
Same issue, but I dont get three days, usually overnight. I did notice that when in Park the P is not orange like all other gears. I was told PCM board, faulty transmission cable either at the top of transmission or in the steering column.
