Acura ILX 2017 Tech 98000 miles
Just got the obd2 to work and changed some relays. Car immediately started idling way high and started smoking after about 3 mins. There’s no oil leak but the engine is covered with oil I dropped. Radiator is full and fine. Just replaced alternator, spark plugs, ignition coils, high pressure fuel pump, fuses, starter.
First, I would check the battery to ensure it's not below 12.4–12.7V (off). If it is low, try recharging it or jump-starting it and letting the car run for about 40 minutes. It should be ~14V (running) if you do get it running.
If the battery charge is good, Look for corrosion, loose clamps, or broken ground wire. Clean and tighten.
For push-to-start, the car won’t crank if the brake pedal switch isn’t registering. Test if the brake lights turn on when pressing the pedal. If not, it's either a faulty switch or a blown fuse. Check the under-hood starter relay and fuse box.
These are the first few things I would check. Other things you could try:
Try starting in Neutral instead of Park — if it cranks, the Park position switch is faulty. Weak key fob battery or immobilizer issue may prevent cranking. Try spare key fob. Replace CR2032 coin cell. Good luck.
