Driver's Window Switch Auto Down SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 2020 R-Line 52327 miles
I have an intermittent inop condition with only the "auto down" feature of the driver's window. It works to lower and raise the glass by holding the switch just fine. Is there a calibration procedure?

If the battery dies and the computers are reset, you have to recalibrate the auto down/up feature for all windows. Just hold the window switch down until the window rolls all the way down, and keep holding the switch down for about 3 seconds. Then roll the window up with the switch and hold the switch in the up position after the window closes for about another 3 seconds. Your auto up/down feature should work now. Repeat for all windows.

Thank you Hagan! That did the trick.

Ive sorta got the same problem but already programed, and down works fine, but not up, if i hold then it goes up, but the auto is inop. Im thinking its the actual switch , feels like there is 4 steps to it, auto down-man down-man up-auto up.

That worked. If it isn't the switch that's failed, then it sort of acts like a computer reset - disconnect power for a bit, reconnect, and it works again. Go figure!

The only way I am able to lock my three passenger doors is to use the backup manual lock lever inside the door that is accessed through the hole under the rubber stopper above the latch. Its marked with a small padlock symbol.

It’s probably a door lock actuator. If you get a VAG scanner like an Ancel VD500 or VD700 it can tell u which door(s) it is. First step would be to check your fuses and the battery on your key fob, but generally with VW locking issues it’s either a broken wire in the door harness or a bad sensor / faulty actuator. With my car, the faulty door was the only one that didn’t respond to the double turn manual locking, but best to confirm with a scanner before ordering / replacing parts. It’s not a hard repair if it’s the actuator, u just have to remove the door panel from the outside to access it…takes about an hour, there are tutorials on YouTube. Good luck.

Android touch screen radio with backup camera not working properly.

Volkswagen Jetta 2008 Sedan, 2.0T BPY, dsg, Wolfsburg edition  165000 miles
Replaced the factory multiple disc unit that died with an aftermarket android CarPlay unit. Wired it into the taillights along with another one for a dash cam (it’s working perfectly). Everything except the backup camera works fine.
The trunk doesn’t work now either.
There’s no real instruction manual whatsoever. China. Came with a wiring harness and cambus decoder that plugs right in.
Got any ideas on this?

The camera works perfectly with the power on and the engine off. Switching into reverse mode and shows a good image from the backup camera.
However, with the engine running it doesn’t work. It briefly shows a multiple image, then goes black, and gives a no signal message.

Update:
I’ve seen a gadget on AliExpress that claims to fix this problem. A transducer or something. The device filters out the hidden data transmitted in the wiring somehow. Apparently, this computer data is only present when the engine is running.
It looks like a typical canbus adapter for led headlights that wires in like a ballast resistor.
Could it be that simple?
Why is this not common knowledge if so?
I’m going to try it. Costs less than $5.

Door latch stuck open

Volkswagen Jetta 2013 Sedan 62000 miles
The drivers door latch is stuck open. This usually happens in winter but it has never come to this. Usually, I can get in but after a bit the interior door handle becomes very hard to open. Then after many attempts it pops open. This time, it didn’t pop and I pried the handle and now the cable is pulled but will not go back so the latch is stuck in the open position and won’t close.

Starter fuse

Volkswagen Jetta 2019 SE 158000 miles
My starter fuse keeps blowing. Does the fact that the windshield wiper fuse is removed have anything to do with this? The wand on the steering wheel was broken off and I removed the fuse so they couldn't be turned on by chance somehow. Could that be what's making it blow? I know there has to be something shorting it out or a naked wire somewhere to make it just blow out of the blue like that.
