It is made up of an electrode (the tip where the spark burns), a metallic nut, a white ceramic insulator, and a connector the spark plug's wire is connected to. It is tightened around the cylinder head. The engine usually has one spark plug per cylinder.
It was using oil so that one time when changing oil it was really low and this was the start of the problems. Later on it just wouldn't crank and seized up and a new engine supposedly was installed at the dealer and the problem now is that it uses oil at about 1 quart per week.
