Power loss, jerks and stalls SolvedSolved

Daewoo Matiz 2000  144000 miles
Hello, I have a big problem with my Matiz 2000. It is powerless and, at idle speed, once the normal working temperature is reached, revolutions raise and drop continuously, generating a low oil pressure. Even more, the car jerks considerably at any gear and both when cold or warm. In order to stop the jerking a little bit, I need to keep the clutch pressed more than usual, generating a disgusting burnt clutch smell. I've replaced everything already, including: cylinder head, valves, filters, fuel pump, sensors, TPS, IAC, spark plugs, wires, camshaft, timing belt, hoses, among many other things, but nothing got better. The car has got a good compression, around 160 pounds. I really do not know what else to do. Thanks in advance for any help you could give me.

I had a similar problem and the failure was the crankshaft axial play, as it was wrongly installed.

Luckily, my problem was finally solved. The camshaft has got a pin or cog that can be easily seen. In my eagerness to replace everything, I also changed the camshaft but, the one I bought, belonged to a Daewoo Tico and it was not exactly the same; this cog's position was the one that was slightly different. So I decided to buy a new Matiz camshaft and, when replacing it, the vehicle started working perfectly again. Hope I can help others with the same problem.

Had a similar problem, found the earth from the alternator not good and the car was 100% after I connected it. Seems the ECU needs full voltage from the alternator and can't work on battery power alone. Can try this...

I still have the problem; I've already replaced my camshaft and crankshaft, and my car still has extreme difficulty starting after driving for a few minutes. (P.S.: my AC and engine fan are also malfunctioning, but I don't know if it's related)

Starting failure SolvedSolved

Daewoo Matiz 2002  22222 miles
Hello, everyone. After servicing the engine and the combustion chamber from my Matiz 2002, the vehicle started accelerating and decelerating by itself. After scanning it, I was told the MAP and TPS sensors were damaged. I replaced both of them and the car started burning spark plugs and losing power. I was then told it was the oxygen sensor, so I bought this sensor and the IAC as well in order to have all the sensors new. But things got worse because the vehicle does not even start working now. Occasionally, some combustion noises are heard and the vehicle starts and immediately stalls. Spark plugs are always wet with fuel. I've already changed the distributor cap, the rotor and the spark plugs wiring, but nothing got better.

If you repaired the engine and the camshaft was replaced, the most probable thing is that this is causing your problems. A generic camshaft causes all the failures you have mentioned. This happened to me and I only solved it when buying the original GM camshaft. Good luck!

Check the injectors, which might be damaged.
Cyrus from United States 11 years ago
Good morning, this happened to me and the problem was that the throttle body was opened. That is the reason why spark plugs get wet.

Thank you very much to all of you for your help and suggestions. Finally, there were many problems, from a short circuit in the fuse box to a failure in a camshaft piece, where the distributor is placed.

Stalled when driving SolvedSolved

Daewoo Matiz 2001  400000 miles
Hi, everyone. I have a Matiz 2001 and, three months ago, when I started the engine, it accelerated to 3000 rpm. In order to make them drop to 1000 rpm, I had to wait for around 30 seconds. I was told it was the MAP sensor that was failing, but I did not replace it. I disconnected the air intake and too much fuel started to get burnt, but revolutions stabilized. Three months later, the vehicle stalled in the middle of an avenue, and I was not able to start it again. I disassembled it and the combustion chamber and all the pistons were full of coal. In order to remove the coal, it had to be clea… Read complete

Check the distributor. And if it accelerates too much at idle speed, check the IAC valve as well.
Samantha from United States 11 years ago
Thank you very much, hortense. I checked the distributor and, effectively, the ignition module is failing: it sparks whenever it wants, sometimes not even sparking at all. As soon as I replace it, I'll let you know what happened.
