It is part of the intake system. It is located in the engine bay inside of a plastic black box. It should be replaced periodically during every maintenance check-up. If it is too dirty, it may be possible to notice that the engine has lost its power, the movements of the car may become irregular or there might be black smoke coming out from the exhaust pipe.
I can start my car after getting a jump, but it won't hold and soon dies if I do not apply gas. I have changed the alternator, the spark plugs, the combustion hose that goes from the engine top to the air filter, the thermostat, and the battery.
