Bell noise

Chevrolet Colorado 2004  145 miles
Hi, I own a Chevy Colorado and, when accelerating, a really strange chime is heard. Does anyone know what might be happening? I was told it might be the catalytic converter.

The same happened to me, so it must be that the manifold is either cracked or damaged. Mine was repaired and the problem was solved.

adela, are you still having the chime coming from the engine? This van's crankshaft damper are metalic and there are some belt brands that have hard areas and thus, when reaching the dampers, they sound like a bell. In order to check if this is your case, you can grease the belt and start the engine and see whether the noise decreases or not. You can as well try scraping the belt with a plastic little shovel while the engine is working, but be careful.
