P2138 error code SolvedSolved

Mini Cooper 2011 Base hatchback 130000 miles
I have a 2138 error code which indicates throttle pedal. After 3 weeks of troubleshooting, it turned out tobe the brake light switch. While 2138 puts the car in limp mode, disconnecting the BLS and clearing the code, takes the car out of limp mode. Reconnect the switch and the error reappear when you press the brake pedal. While you have no limp mode, you also don't have brake lights. Tried an aftermarket switch which lasted 3 days. Dealer wanted $98 for genuine part, AutohausAZ charged $45+8 for shipping.

Update: the new switch did not help. Found out a bad relay in the DME. $2000 repair. Bypassing the brake switch with a generic push switch, relay and resistor ( to trick the DME from throwing codes). Pull the original switch, covered with foil and E tape. DME will never see it. Clear code. Limp mode gone. Saved a ton.
