Fuel pump problems

Ford Expedition 2006 5.4 237000 miles
I can’t get the fuel pump to work because of either the PATS or something else that is causing it not to work. I have replaced the original fuel pump and it still doesn’t have power to the fuel pump and it’s went into what I was told is theft mode and it has been reset again and again and still the same issue

There USA switch that will sometimes activate..it's a safety feature that will keep fuel from from working if it thinks the vehi le has been in an accident. Look up the location of the fuel pump or regulator button an simply push it in to reset it. Sometimes hitting a bump or something will cause this
Jimbo from United States 2 years ago
Yeah I had similar issues however I looked for that switch and I can't find it says it's on the passenger side floorboard upper by the firewall I didn't see it

Tara from United States 6 months ago
Its probably your fuel pump relay, which is soldered into your motherboard. Ask me how I know. I had to get a new board from the junkyard to start my car.

My 2001 expedition xlt 5.4L is not soldered. Came right out.

Fuel pump stays running with key on and engine off

Ford Expedition 2006 5.4L 3V XLT 193000 miles
I believe it has something to do with relay R303 but I'm not completely sure. When you cycle the key the pump should come on for a second or two before shutting off the pump, but for me it just stays running. An other issue it had was at a stop it would idle fine but buck and not want to go unless you mashed the throttle a couple times then it'd wake up and go, but that's probably because of the cam phaser.

I bought this truck a couple months ago and when I checked it out I started it it sounded fine so the next day I bought it it ran fine for about half the day then I went out to start at one time and it wouldn't start and I've never been able to start again so I replaced the fuel pump the fuel filter I moved around some relays and see if maybe that was it I did find a burned out fuel pump relay on the board that I switched out and still won't start and the damnedest thing it seems like it's not getting power to the ignition or something because when I put the key in and turn it I get nothing bu… Read complete

If the alternator is not charging the battery, the battery will eventually drain and the vehicle may not start. Here are some things you can check:

Check the alternator belt: Make sure the alternator belt is tight and not slipping. If the belt is loose, it can cause the alternator to spin too slowly to effectively charge the battery.
Check the alternator connections: Make sure the connections between the alternator and battery are clean and tight. If the connections are loose or corroded, the alternator may not be able to effectively charge the battery.
Check the alternator itself: If the alternator belt is tight and the connections are good, you may have a problem with the alternator itself. You can have the alternator tested at a local auto parts store or mechanic to determine if it needs to be replaced.
Check the voltage regulator: The voltage regulator is responsible for controlling the voltage output of the alternator. If the voltage regulator is faulty, it may cause the alternator to not charge the battery.

If everything worked be for you took fuse panel out I would start there. I had to replace fuel relay but I cut connection wire from plug and put relay that was easier to get to and there’s a wire that shuts pump off so it wouldn’t flood the motor fine it and hook to relay but it will still run even though you just wire in new relay - the problem with taking fuse panel and replace relay is it could go out again it gets hot behind the panel and that’s the problem usually

Do you hear your fuel pump when you turn the key forward if not have you try to straight wire your fuel At your fuse box . Does it have a sunroof I don’t know if it happens on all models but something with the drainage of the sunroof get the back of the fuse panel wet oh you know what happens. I have an 03 had aSimilar issue and learned it was five relays integrated into circuit board In the middle one is for the fuel pump relay
Davis2312 from United States 2 years ago
It is going to be a problem with your key ( the chip inside) signal getting blocked. An causing the anti theft from letting it start from keeping the fuel pump an coil fire.
Jimbo from United States 2 years ago
Hey I'm wondering if you got this fixed? I'm have similar issues. The previous owner had same exact thing happen. As I bought it I called locksmith, after $150+ he plugged in his computer and it worked for about 6 months. Since then my anti theft light comes on and it won't start. I replaced a ignition switch under steering column and it worked, until it didn't. I was told by multiple people that it was the key and the little chip. But the locksmith says no it's the computer. Which is why I'm looking for more answers and found this. I hope you solved your problem. I'm continuing to deal with mine.

Cranks Starts and dies

Ford Expedition 2012 XLT 4WD 5.4L 3V 220000 miles
Performed a timing job replacing timing chain guides, timing chains, lower sproket, rocker arms, lash adjusters, set to time. Started, detected an oil leak on passanger side valve cover gasket, reset gasket, not sure if leak controller entirely. Started stalling while pressing brake pedal and started running rough. Chased leak, removed power brake booster to replace but found main vacuum hose loose. Reinstalled booster, reconnected vacuum hose apparently no more leaks. Noticed the message in the dashboard asking to check break system, parking break light on but break not set, and rear lights a… Read complete

Found two relays acting up (PCM) and fuel pump, closing circuit erratic, used forscan and found silent dtcs, all related to low voltage, new battery is installed, crancked and started running smooth, but having trouble to run on idle (dies often but starts right away) check brake system was resolved by replacing brake light switch, lights are normal and doesn't die anymore. Drove around all normal for 15-20 miles even in traffic, parked to get a soda and then started running rough. Revving up it run smooth. New Forscan shows dtcs P0356,369, 390, 394, indicating a problem with cam sensors circuitry. Is there a way to test the sensors? testing the wiring, the reference would be ground or everything has to be pcm? By the way information I found onDTC was at RUC module that affects fuel pump driver, once dtc cleared and new battery, problem was gone, now I have to deal with the new codes. It is a never ending

Shuts off randomly after you drive it & it warms up some.

Ford Expedition 2004 Eddie Bauer edition 5.4l 265852 miles
Initially I thought it may be the fuel filter so I replaced that & instead of shutting off & having to fight for 5 minutes to get it to crank back up it now cranks back up within a try or two & will run another 1/2 mile or so before shutting off on me again. I don't believe it's the fuel pump itself but maybe the crankshaft position sensor or relay or possibly the fuel pump module but I'm no expert & only have learned by what my dad & grandpa has taught me over the years along with mechanic classes in college. So any advice or anyone with knowledge who's been through this as well I'd be greatly appreciated to hear your opinion & input on the situation. Thank you in advance.
