It is made up of a special ceramic filter that, if there are any contaminant gases, transforms them chemically into gases that are less harmful, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapor. It usually reaches very high temperatures. Its usage is mandatory by law.
Hi, I own a Chevy Colorado and, when accelerating, a really strange chime is heard. Does anyone know what might be happening? I was told it might be the catalytic converter.
adela, are you still having the chime coming from the engine? This van's crankshaft damper are metalic and there are some belt brands that have hard areas and thus, when reaching the dampers, they sound like a bell. In order to check if this is your case, you can grease the belt and start the engine and see whether the noise decreases or not. You can as well try scraping the belt with a plastic little shovel while the engine is working, but be careful.
