AC and engine overheating

Volkswagen Jetta 2017 1.4 160000 miles
The AC work perfect and out of nowhere the air stops cooling and then cools back again and so on, after a couple of minutes of this happening the car starts over heating.

Temperature icon SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Jetta 2004  170000 miles
Hi everyone, this is what happened to me: on Tuesday, the engine was cleaned. On Wednesday, it worked properly. On Thursday, the temperature's icon on the dashboard turned on and, when I opened the hood, I noticed that the antifreeze compartment was not closed correctly and the liquid was coming out of it. That same day I filled the compartment with its corresponding antifreeze, left the car on for a while and the icon turned off. On Friday, the temperature's icon turned on again but, when I checked the antifreeze level, it was between the accepted limits. The car has not overheated lately, the water pump is a year old and the fans are working properly. How can I remove the icon? Or what is it that is failing?

Usually the icon turns on when there is a liquid deficit. In other cases it has to do with the engine still being cold because you have just started the car. The normal thing is that the needle which measures the temperature is right in the middle. If it is above that, it is a problem. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my Jeta and the cause was that the terminals that go behind the fuse panel were sulphated, so I cleaned them and it is now working properly. There are two connectors, a yellow and a white one. Hope my comment helps you.

The car's fans do not start working and thus the vehicle overheats.
