It is made up of a butterfly check valve that regulates the air passage to the engine. It can be mechanically activated through the accelerator pedal, or electrically through a servomotor according to certain variables calculated by the ECU. It should be cleaned regularly.
The Tire Pressure Sensor light stays on despite verification rhat we are at 36psi. Does this definitely mean I have to replace them ? Any other work around or optional solutions?
It means that a TPMS sensor or sensors have died. The TPMS sensor has a button style battery and unfortunately they don't die. Unfortunately the battery can not be replaced. So, the entire sensor needs to be replaced and programmed to the vehicle TPMS system. This generally can be performed at any tire shop.
