Can someone help me out please. Bim a female who knows nothing about cars. This car is my life line at this moment. I have no one helping to get this done. The car has sat for about 4 or 5 months. When I tried to crank the other day nothing. Tried to jump it off for over an hour. Took the battery to car place said it was bad. I then bought a new battery and it's still doing the same thing. No noise but 1 click

First of all, check out the fuse #26 in the engine fuse box, maybe it`s blowed. https://www.startmycar.com/chevrolet/m…
If it`s ok, maybe the starter motor y blocked. Look for it in the engine compartment and gently hit it wuith a hammer or something solid. This video will help you... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY0JP7…

Had the same issue. Put the
Key in the ingnition. Turn key on, take car out of park then put it back in park make sure its locked in park. Turn the key off. Then see if it will start. Even though my car seemed to be in park, it wasn't actually locked into park as far as the transmission/engine.
Hope this helps.

I do beleive that has a battery current sensor that needs to be recalibrated anytime the alternator or battery is replaced. And i do beleive there is an inline fuse somewhere on the positive cable because it goes from the battery to the alternator to the starter

Battery went dead replaced alternator & it still only charges when on

Chevrolet Malibu 2007 3.5 V6 74000 miles
Battery went dead replaced alternator & it still only charges when the car is running but just barely so I have to jump it everytime if it sits for longer than 20 minutes or so. I've checked the accessories inside and made sure everything is off I've tried locking rhe car with the alarm on and off to ensure it isn't the problem and still no luck I'm contemplating the multimeter Amp test on the fuse box under the hood but wanted to see if anyone on here or online may have any suggestions or the same issue they resolved on any specific common electrical issue the 07 malibu LS has first before going through the strenuous multimeter tests

I changed the battery. Be careful and read instructions. I failed to completely tighten all four of the wires on the side. Car would crank but absolutely nothing else worked until I retightened them and you must connect positive terminal first then negative. No lie. It's weird. I never knew it mattered but I'm not a mechanic I just play one!

Replaced the alternator and battery twice , the alternator 3 times.

Chevrolet Malibu 2005 Sedan , 2.2  210000 miles
First time I had problems was sitting with it running and all of a sudden it started loosing power like the battery was dying power steering aswell until it finally dies out. After everything I did the alternator seems to not want to charge the battery “all the time” because only sometimes the light comes on and only sometimes when I unplug the terminal the engine shut off so I’m lost all wires are good and visible fuses. Are there fuses or relays I should be checking?

Get a scan tool at AutoZone or O'rielly, or wherever. Turn your key on, connect it like a phone charger to your car. It should be near the gas pedal and look in front of you or in that area. The port to plug it into is going to look like the end on the scan tool. Follow instructions. It will tell you what's wrong with your car, if it's an electrical problem Could be a camshaft sensor, a crankshaft sensor, theft deterrent system, a loose or bad ground wire, I've seen it be a fuse, not a relay, a simple fuse! I've known it to be the entire fuse box under the hood was traded out with a used identical one. We swapped our fuses in to the newer box, the car started right up! Nobody could fix this car not even GMC CHEVROLET dealership! We did...hope this helps.....
Lisa from United States 2 years ago
I did that nothing comes up on the scan tool. It reads nothing, I did notice at the battery for the positive cable the wires are crushed, and their is black sticky stuff on it. I took terminals off this because it had broke when tightened. I replaced it and noticed the cable. I going to try to get the black sticky stuff off and see if that helps. I will try to upload a picture for before and after. Thank you for the info on the scan tool but it literally shows nothing.

Rhonda from United States 2 years ago
I don't know if your battery is the very large one with 4 or 5 wires plus negative & positive terminals. If so it sounds like the wires are loose. My car did same exact thing. I removed all wires. Connected the little wires making sure the nuts were good and tight, then connect positive and last negative. It matters! Making sure all connections are clean. I was praying it would work but I didn't really believe it would. It sounded too easy. I said I don't think it's gonna work because I didn't hear the bell dinging because of opened door. Just as I finish saying that I heard the dinging. It cranked right up and all was good. No lie. I was so freaking happy!
litz from United States a year ago
If you don’t see anything on the scan tool after connecting your scanner, the problem would be most likely your ecu or ecm…its not communicating with your scanner and likely it’s already worn out…you may be the only one who possibly know the cause of its issue like flood, engine overheating etc…therefore in order to properly navigate this kind of electrical problem since you don’t have anything on your scanner …I strongly advise it’s your ecm need to be replaced and maybe even your bcm also as this two like husband & wife that has marital relationship with each other…hope this kind of technicality will help you pinpoint the actual issue

I had a similar issue only it would happen randomly and it would come out of limp mode after some time driving. I topped my radiator fluid and thought it was fixed.
After it happened again I changed throttle body and made sure that the air intake hose connected snuggly to the throttle body. Issue cam back after about 6 months. Checked for leaks and did a smoke test, 3 of the 4 throttle body bolts were completely broken off. I replaced those and no more limp mode. Other things I did was clean fuel injectors - only use OEM if replacing (TRQ injectors did not work), spark plugs and ignition coils and cam shaft sensors, also drained and filled transmission fluid.

Replace Dual Battery Control Module on top of main battery. The dealerships will make it look like it was a ground, and that will work for a short time, but jump directly to the fix - replace that module.

Same thing happened to my 2016 LS. I drove it to a benefit raffle and it was fine. Found out I won a raffle so I had to go pick it up and when I tried to start it the brake was stiff and when I pushed the start button all the lights started flickering and I heard clicking sound. It wouldn't stop until I figured out I had to push the start button twice. Since then I put a new battery in, replaced the vacuum pump, changed the oil and it still won't start. I'm about to give up and call AAA to get it towed to the dealer.

You have a vampiric drain somewhere. Meaning a circuit that should turn off with the car but does not. Learn to use a multi meter and find the offending circuit by going through all the fuses till you find active power draws, google the fuse and circuit to see if it is ment to draw power continuously like your clock memory, or if it should it shut down like your radio or heated seats or trunk light etc and pull the fuse if it's not critical or cant be fixed... solution two. Hook up a trickle charger to your battery every night.
Solution 3 unhook your battery negative terminal every night.
1 fix it
2 get around it
3 ignore it.

While stopped at light, the car engine stops and then won't restart. Had to push car off to the side then put it in park and after a few minutes was able to restart. Getting the car restarted, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu lt 1.5.

Chevrolet Malibu 2018 Lt/1.5 108012 miles
I pic. \n Ked up a problem on the engine monitor that was a p 11 0 1 throttle position sensor problem. So what I had done was got some throttle position, cleaner and mass airflow cleaner and applied it to each one of the units, except the 1 step that I forgot to do was disconnect the negative side of the battery. Which in fact just threw everything in in a tailspin now, I'm trying to figure out what can I do to fix this problem, to get it started again, I went ahead and repurchased, a new thought position sensor I have some new relays and new fuses, but I need to understand the steps. In between, that will allow it to initiate a start and run. Does anybody have any clue because I can't buy A wiring diagram or schematic from the auto parts stores anymore.
