Started out with battery problems

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2017 Lmtd 140 km
Now we’ve changed both batteries. We have put an alternator on here and there is still no power. I’m not understanding all that happened was I went to work? The car ran down because INow we’ve changed both batteries we have put an alternator on here and there is still no power. I’m not understanding all that happened was I went to work? The car ran down because I left something on inside of it and ran the battery down. Well that’s why we had to replace them now I’m checking fuses and doing everything that I’m supposed to do, but I am clueless And the car has been broke down for way too long. I mean it needs to be on the road or something needs to happen.

Replace the battery, if that doesn’t work, it might be your alternator not charging that battery
Vianey de États-Unis il y a 2 ans
It could also be your battery terminals, they might be loose, dirty, or broken, sometimes the wiring from the cable might be faulty, had the same issue, the negative cable would get hot after jump starting it, so it was not getting any power from battery

No heat when the battery level is low.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2023 2.0 4cyl 4xe 19000 km
I have found that when my electric battery is low. When I'm driving in Hybrid mode with the heat on it sometimes it blows hot air and sometimes warm/cool air. I have taken it to the dealership but they can not diagnose if it is not currently happening. They also say that the vehicle needs to be charged in order to have heat which makes no sense to me.

Battery has to be jumped randomly.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2021 Trailhawk  81788 km
So during the winter time my battery needed to be jumped only in the mornings at complete random days. I thought something was draining the battery and so I removed the fuse that monitors the Interlock device and it seemed to help but it would still have the same issue but not as often. I am still having the same exact issue with having to jump start the battery randomly only in the mornings. I got to thinking even harder about it and so I decided to turn off EVERYTHING I could every day when I got out of the car and that seemed to help, but I am still having to randomly jumpstart my battery.… Lire en entier

Can’t get out of battery saver mode

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014 Grand Cherokee Laredo, V6 85000 km
My jeep died and I couldn’t turn it back on. I went to get my battery tested to see if that was the cause and it turned out to be a bad battery. I bought a new battery but now the jeep won’t go out of battery saver mode. The voltage on the dash shows that the battery only has 10-11 volts but the battery is brand new… anyone have any suggestions on what it could be or how to get out of battery saver mode? I already checked that battery sensor.

Either your battery is losing cranking amps or the starter solenoid is going out mine is doing the same first I thought it was the ignition switch then I thought it was a relay because I would mess with the box and it would work and it stopped. Then I thought it was a solenoid because I turned it over and it would just make a tick sound. I’d have to go back-and-forth back-and-forth back-and-forth in order for to start then it quit working altogether. I’m pretty sure it was because that little wire fell off. Would that caused the first symptoms that I was having?

2011 jeep won’t start.

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2011  153000 km
My jeep didn’t start one day , so I took it to the body shop. They said I needed a new battery and a new alternator. Paid over $1000, including labor fee. 3 days after, they called me to pick it up. I drove 4 stop light up the street and then the battery symbol popped up. Brought it back to the shop. They checked it and told me the new alternator is not charging the battery. They had my car for 4 more days and called me to tell me that i have to take it to the dealership because they can’t fix it. Saying it seems like the old alternator affected the computer in my car so it’s in some way. Ther… Lire en entier

That shop ripped you off something horrible, $1K and 3 days to change an alternator and battery? I could have done this for you in 1 hour for like $300 bucks, and would have tested everything before giving it back to you, that same day. The alternator is probably bad, the cheap autozone replacements end up being garbage 30% of the time. The ECU doesn't tell the alternator to charge, they just sense the battery voltage and charge accordingly. Find a better mechanic. If you're near Chattanooga hit me up 423-600-9425
Lori de États-Unis il y a un an
Hello. Thanks for the response. I took it to the dealership. They said the computer in the car fried and thats why nothing is working. They said it was always the computer and I may not have needed the new parts pepboys gave me. Sigh! They are charging me $2200 for that part. I Finally came up with the money to pay, after some while, I called them and told to go ahead and fix it. Got a called back from them that the part is back ordered and it may take months or up to a year to get it, because they only have one location in the nation that makes the part. Sigh! I have been depressed since. My car has been sitting at the jeep dealership for about 2 months. They said if I take it, then the order will be cancelled. Getting another car is so expensive, but uber rides are beating my a...! I’m just tired of it all! Thanks for your response though, and your number.
James de États-Unis il y a un an
@LoriGet your car and then go to a junkyard and get a used ECU, then install it yourself. Lot's of YouTube videos on replacing it. Will probably have to get ECU flashed but, will be cheaper.

The issue is possibly in the airbags
We've been diagnosing common possible energy draining processes-
When I would turn the ignition off, we could still hear a mechanical process running in the behind the dash (where the airbags are)
Henri de autre il y a 9 mois
Not airbags, but air doors. They are calibrating and open/closing all the time. Unfortunately WJ's (1999-2005 grand cherokees) have this issue. The motors have plastic gear on the end of them that break very easily, especially in colder climates. I had same issue when I didnt even heard one break and all of a sudden one side of the interior only got cold air.
Jason de États-Unis il y a un an
Im having the same issue I found that when I turned my dimmer switch for the interior lights the radio would ground out and go out. Where does the radio and the dimmer switch intersect for them to ground out.
Henri de autre il y a 9 mois
You could check if the interior vent is switching off when the car turns off. Some diesel versions of WJ have this issue where the blower motor control module/resistor goes bad and it stays on constantly. (control module is located under the dash, passenger side)

Overheating

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2007 Laredo 3.7 245000 km
Transmission over temp on dashboard after running errands. 2 mechanic shops couldn't figure it out. Changed battery and solved some problems. Replaced thermostat a couple times. Flushed coolant. Added transmission fluid. Worked good for about a week. Was told to clean/replace the shifter. Possibly stuck in limp mode. Its working well right now. But transmission over temp pops up once in awhile after driving and turning the vehicle off. When I try starting it again it will not start, shakes the whole vehicle, and makes an unpleasant sound. So I turn it off right away. That problem comes and goes. It shifts and drives smooth. Only problem is turning it back on after using it for some time. Any ideas that I haven't mentioned??

Mine shakes whole car after a stall nonstart 8 wks in a garage I was told it was the MAXI FUSE BOX they welded it and now doesnt stall yet now a series of problems head lamps tail lamps dummy lights on then next day off. The garage said triple A cross jumped my veh blew the computer panel and the fix was the maxi fuse box I was told. Now blower motor for a/c heat defrost sporadically wont work at all. All fuses are testing fine yet the new lighting bulbs wont work. Maybe the cross jumped ruined my new car? No ways to prove that triple A did this to me.
Jessica M de États-Unis il y a 4 mois
It’s the MDS wiring harness. I’ve had the same problem for years, since I bought the Jeep used the transmission over temp. It’s intermittent and it’s so frustrating because there are few and far between mechanics that know anything about the MDS system. I still have the problem and have you yet to find anybody to look into the MDS system for me. I find that it comes back more when anybody plugs in the diagnostic machine and clears the codes then the transmission overtime tends to come on more frequently for a little bit and then goes away completely.

Intermittent loud clicking noise while car is completely turned off

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2005 Limited 215000 km
I’ve been experiencing an intermittent extremely loud clicking noise while driving or mostly when the car has been shut off from the dash. Has anyone had this problem? It’s intermittent. It’s really loud and obnoxious sometimes the only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery. I changed the actuator. I’ve replaced the alternator already. I can’t even tell you how many batteries I’ve had to replace because I think it drains the battery while the car is off when it continues to click. Please someone tell me they know what it is? Please and thank you in advance.

I believe it has something to do with the heater system. I’m not sure why or how but I feel like it happens most when it’s cold outside then When i first start it, turn the heat on and then turn the position knob to defrost. That’s when I noticed it happening with the vehicle on. I’m actually not sure if the position is definitely defrost, so don’t quote me on that but it’s one of them. Otherwise, it mostly does it when the vehicle is turned off. Every single thing with my Jeep has been intermittent situations and a mystery to solve. Lol.
Now my battery keeps getting drained. This would be, no exaggeration my 8th battery in less than 2 yrs. Another mystery I have to try figuring out. Shwww this vehicle exhausts me. It’s like a darn full time job

Jeep GC WJ (2000-2005) has common issue when wiring is rubbing against steering wheel column and can cause all sorts of issues. There have been issues with dash lighting up with all sorts of lights and/or not running at all because the wiring could have been damaged. Dont know if its the issue that you have but its worth a check. Also the windows issue could be the issue with the wiring in door hinge-joint where the door connects to the body (that rubber cover you see when you open the door). I had issue with driver door losing all power when opening door. When I checked the wires, I noticed that some had been damaged. I don't know If it's the issue you have but it worth a check. Hope it helps

2019 GC Summit, Radio stays on for 5-10 minutes then screen goes dark and reboots. I've checked all fuses that have to so with the stereo/climate controls and everything is fine. If the jeep sits for more that a day the battery drains completely, which I believe it's the Radio constantly rebooting even when the car is off.

How to permanently disable ESS on 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Jeep Grand Cherokee 2016  54000 km
Is there a way to permanently disable ESS on Jeep vehicles that won't effect the IBS (intelligent battery sensor)?

On my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, with the intellegent battery sensor wire (IBS wire) disconnected the only "observable" change was that  the ESS (electronic start stop) feature was disabled. Does disconnecting the IBS wire from the main battery negatively impact other aspects of the automobile? If so, is there another way to permanently disable the ESS that will will not impact other aspects of the vehicle?
