I have had the exact same issue on my 2018 3.5 ecoboost. I read codes, took it to Ford, then took it to another mechanic after Ford couldn't figure it out. Still have the same issue. The second mechanic shop said it was a condensation build up on the drivers side of the intercooler, so they drilled a hole to let it drain, but didn't make a difference. I cannot tow, and cannot accelerate more than say ~80% without sputtering and complete loss of power.
Had the same problem with a 2003 , differential clutches were sticking , Ford sells an additive that may cure the problem , or replace the clutches ,approx. $ 1000.00 fix
My rear end has a roaring clanking noise leaked rear end oil out of the back seal now there isn't a leak but it's making a noise mostly when I slow down.
