Hello, everyone. Two months ago, my car started making a noise every time I drive along a shabby street. It sounds as if the bottom plate or something else was loose. I checked it from underneath and everything seems to be in good state. Has anyone had this problem? What can it be?
Hi, I am 95% sure your failure is in your rods, which are the ones that help support the front damping with the chassis. Apparently, this piece's failure is a manufacturing problem. When this happened to me, I replaced them and the problem was solved.
The same occurred to me and I discovered that the engine mounting on the right side, the one that is next to the air filter was making the noise. Once it was replaced, the annoying noise disappeared and has not yet returned after 6 months. Hope it helps.
I got this car for my daughter to learn on. Easy car, small. 5 Speed manual, crank windows.
It has a knock sensor code. Simple thought the sensor was bad. Replaced and the code returned. Checked the engine and there is no knocking happening. Got another sensor to be safe that I didn't get a junk one, and the same thing. I clear the code and it comes back after shutting it off and back on.
I can not figure it out, also can not get it tagged so she can drive it around. Any ideas?
After securing the tech manuals, I was able to narrow it down to the knock sensor wiring. I had to isolate the wires from the PCM and run new lines instead of completely removing the wiring harness to locate the issue. Problem is solved. Once I knew the wires in the PCM connector and which connector, finding the issue with a MM was quick and simple. Running the new wires also simple. Passed emissions and back on the road.
Recently, a strange noise has appeared near the front shock absorbers, and it seems as if there were something loose. This noise appears only when driving through a hole or along an unpaved street. I've already checked it and it seems to be the rods that are of a terrible quality. It is an annoying noise they make which appears to be that the car was about to break down. To be new, the vehicle leaves a lot to be desired.
The noise is not in the rods but in the brake pads, which get distorted when they wear down. I took the vehicle to a brake commerce and the only thing they did was to put some silicone to the brake pads so that they got stuck to the caliper properly. That was enough for the problem to be solved.
I own a Sonic 2014 and the transmission resulted being one of the worst ones. It is the second time that the gears get stuck in a month. And, every time I start the car, the engine makes an awful noise; it seems to be an old vehicle. The service leaves a lot to be desired and the insurance does not respond. The car stalled in the middle my journey the 24th of December and I was left there, because no one answered me. I really do not know what to do.
In 2011, I bought a Sonic 2012 who turned out to be absolutely faulty. The first problem was with the braking, which did not work or did whenever it wanted to. It was then found that some hoses that control the emptiness were damaged. Later, the ABS began making a terrible noise like the one of an old car. Finally, it started jerking because something in the transmission was failing, and even two times a little engine of the air conditioning gate broke down.
Mine is 2018 sonic, it's jerking, shuts off while driving, jerks, won't up a hill when I lose the RPM, any advice, my mechanic said it was ABS sensor, changed that, changed the ABS switch, still nothing, the ABS light is off since I replaced the switch, he says it was 4 more sensors had to be replaced
I bought a Sonic LTZ 2012 and it leaves a lot to be desired. It has already presented failures in the battery and thermostat. Even more, a terrible noise appeared coming from the suspension, as well as another one on the right side which is just as if something were boiling. I have also encountered problems with the gearbox. It is really frustrating.
There's a small square cap you can pop off beside the shifter. Then stick something in there to depress a button that will unlock the shifter. It's there so you can shift our of park in emergencies or maintenance
My checy sonic stalls n stop accelerating after driving fr a while. Sometimes it does that if the petrol was finished n i refill. Then it wil start n go buy few minutes it wil begin to stall n never accelerate...it also have a cracking noise that come immediately when i turn the engine on but goes to normal idling in 5 seconds.
My Chevy sonic runs fine until the traction light comes on and you’re not even on a slick road and then it won’t run over 26 miles an hour after that until you shut it off for at least 30 seconds or a minute and then start it back up and it runs fine until this happens again someone help me please
I turn the key over all light come on turn key and all u heat is a quick whistle sound and the dash light go off for about 3 seconds then all the light come back one and u hear everything resetting
Goes in limp mode at random times, I pull over shut it off give it a few minutes and start it all lights but check engine light goes off, also noticed when starting the car for the first time and I put the car in drive it seems like the throttle is somewhat down cause the car is moving quite fast for just taking my foot off the brake
Have changed coils three times, each time I change the coil, the engine become very hot and burn the coil, I recently changed the head gasket but still it over heat, I took off the ECU for repair, before then it was cylinder 1 that misfires but after the repairs it shifted to cylinder 4 now, it gives a very rough idle and popping exhaust sound, can smell fuel at the exhaust when engine starts cold... Kindly help me am very confused here.
We bought our Sonic 2012 ltz in 2011 and, since the first year of usage, we've been having problems with it. First, a joint was released and it makes it sound as if it were an old car. It then started failing when braking forward or backward and it ended up being the vacuum hose of the ABS brakes. This year, the stabilizer bar's screws have been replaced as well as the automatic transmission's oil lock. Last but not least, a week and a half ago, we suffered a collision from the front and the air bags were not activated. There is no way we can now feel secure when stepping on the car. If somebody has had similar problems, I would appreciate it if you let me know and if you know how I can solve this. Thank you for the comments.
Good afternoon, my Sonic has a creaking noise coming from the steering wheel that appears every time I turn to the left or right. There is also a similar noise coming from the right superior part of the car, which is really annoying. The other problem was that, after a year and a half of usage, the battery got damaged. Briefly, I've had many inconvenients with this vehicle.
