The best:Probably fuel efficiency
Kinda like that is diesel since have truck and sprinter van
The worst:Have this car for 3 years drove like 300 miles probable even less and yes tree hundred miles when just got have to take to pay $300 mechanic to pass smog didn't again to mechanic charge another 3 hundred lol passed smog after like one week i realize that sounds feels like some metal in research I did said that's dual dual flywheel I called mechanic ask if he didn't head noice in engine yelld at him should tell me I would not put so much money
The best:Reliable, durable. And factory sound system is amazing.
The worst:Seems when one thing fails it just dominoes into a list of even more things before you can figure out what the actual first problem really was. My opinion
The best:Turn out jettas are easier to work on than I originally thought. That doesn't make jettas easy to work on, just easier than the nightmare I had envisioned lol.
The worst:As with all modern automoblies, you need special tool & repair manuals in order to do most repairs or troubleshooting. Its better thn most cars I've owned so I shouldn't complain.
The best:Not a single serious mechanical component has broken after 80K miles. The room is pretty spacious in the interior. General maintenance is pretty easy with ramps, working in the engine bay seems decent.
The worst:- ABS/Wheel speed sensor break all the time. I have gone through 3 in a the last couple of years.
- Over-Engineered(in my hobbyist opinion). The ABS for example thinking like an engineer is not modular at all, causing serious time or money to fix. Sealed fully, JPT connector. I REALLY don't get why companies cant use a universal standard.. it is literally a positive and ground wire, not that hard to engineer.
-Car height makes any difficult repairs hard to do. You need a low profile jack and probably need to lift 6 inches plus to reach the sub frame jack stand point.
-Pinch points for lifting are too small.. with the previous comment, if they made them bigger you would easily feel safer getting a jack under.
-Has a "lifetime" A/T fluid, don't know what to think about that, gonna ask my automotive engineering friend his opinion because I don't see a mechanical part lasting 200K miles plus without damage.
-Because of the earlier comments, authorized service shops or even un-authorized specialty service shops charge considerable money. Example - a ABS/Speed sensor costs 38 OE and probably 80-90 OEM, and 20 minutes with a jack and breaker/torque etc. Everyone wants $350-530.
-Because of the rear small windows tint shops charge EXTRA because of the difficulty.
The worst:Cost of parts and maintenance services is very high. The multimedia center is poor in resources. There is no possibility of updating the GPS. The commands for using the phone are in Portuguese from Portugal and do not work in Brazil because they do not understand Brazilian Portuguese.
The best:Control or handling
Well balanced,
Comfortable
The looks
Beautiful inside out.
The worst:Problem with headlights.
It vibrates when I speed over 120
Sometimes there is a crackling sound when I start.
Replacing headlights bulbs, is not easy.
The best:I've just been VW guy I have been around bugs, rabbits,Jetta etc over the last 45 years .
The worst:I don't like automatic transmission since VW seems to have alot of issues with them, love manual transmissions easier to maintain less issues.
The best:Owned since 2014 with 40k miles. The most reliable car in 54 years of driving. Very, very comfortable on highways. Sporty on the back roads. Room to carry almost anything.Still runs like new.
The worst:It began taking on rain water - and lots of it. It was years before I found good information on YouTube. I unplugged the rear drain tubes and the gas cap drain. Everything fine now but, pretty sure if cause some areas to begin rusting. Tiny problem - huge headache.
The best:It’s a fun little car to zip around in. Light weight and overpowered as long as it’s driven aggressively. Sticks to the road like crazy. Fairly economical and reliable. Parts are reasonable and available. Heated seats are nice. Typical well thought out German engineering. Love the DSG transmission.
The worst:It’s an attention whore. There’s been a lot of maintenance issues. Nothing catastrophic, but it was close enough.
Replaced in the last year:
Oil pan
Trans pan/front cover.
Rear bumper cover
Front valence and splash guard
Timing chain and tensioner
Valve cover gasket
High pressure fuel pump follower
Timing belt, tensioner, and rollers
Water pump
Cam position sensor
Oil filter housing
Thermostat
Hose connector with the tiny little hose on the high pressure fuel pump side of the engine.
Engine/ac Cooling fans
Headliner
Major repair on all 4 sunroof drains.
Stereo head unit
Airbox mounting grommets
Engine and cabin air filters
I’m sure there’s more.
Still need to fix the passenger door window regulator and the ac solenoid.
A lot of the engine and related is plastic and fragile. Very little working room during repairs. Stupid engineering in critical areas like the sunroof drains and oil filter housing. Many obscure tools are required. Requires a special scanning system.
The can bus is a pain and hinders easy modifications. An example is how a single LED bulb added to the reverse lights shut down the engine.
The engine is an oil consumer in strangely unpredictable ways.
Requires premium fuel.
Runs best at higher rpm’s but is not as efficient there.
Comfort could be better!
Noise levels are higher than normal.
The best:I can use manual or auto transmission. My Jetta has the Sport option as well.great gas moleage
The worst:That it has not aged gracefully 😃minor things such as headliner, worn drivers seat, and worn shifting boot. Mechanically it has been a great car, just regular maintenance.
The worst:Цього року вже видно іржаві плями, це дуже засмучує. Точно не економна. Бере не тільки бензин, але і масло (олію). Приходиться їздити з каністрою 5 літровою
Tsi . Але по при все ітак люблю її
