Hyundai Elantra 2014 GT 140000 miles
My Elantra will start and idle fin, but losses power at higher speeds and losses speed while climbing hills. It seems the transmission isn't shifting normally. I've heard it could be a clogged catalytic converter. Any way to test this before i have the cat replaced.

I checked the car through obd I got an error code P2096 I changed the oxygen sensor and the problem still exists. Should I clean it? catalytic ?

Changing the O2 sensor fixed the problem for me for a few days each time but it’s been coming back.

Exhaust Back Pressure Test This is the most accurate test. Remove the upstream oxygen sensor and install a back-pressure gauge in its place. At idle: the pressure should be below 1.5 psi. At 2,500 RPM: it should not exceed 3 psi. Higher readings usually indicate a clogged catalytic converter. Road Test with the Upstream Oxygen Sensor Removed
Temporarily remove or loosen the upstream oxygen sensor to allow exhaust gases to escape before reaching the catalytic converter. If the engine regains its power and accelerates normally, this is a strong indication that the catalytic converter is clogged. The engine will be louder during this test, so it should only be driven a short distance. Infrared Temperature Test
After the engine reaches operating temperature, measure the temperature at the inlet and outlet of the catalytic converter. Under normal conditions, the outlet is usually hotter than the inlet. Abnormal temperature readings may indicate a clogged or damaged catalytic converter.
