Brakes lights stay on.

The brake lights stay on even when the car is turned off. I had to pull the fuse to save the battery.

The brake light switch is on the brake pedal... there is a rubber circle disk usually blue that the brake switch presses against... is wears out and breaks... it the blue disk is gone the brake lights will not shut off... I got sick off replacing the blue disk so I took 2dimes and glued them together and then duck taped them where blue disk went

Possible fuel pump failure

Ford Escort 1997 Ford Escort 247565 miles

The problem started a few months ago where the car would want to turn off at a stop light. I had to put it on neutral so it would continue to idle a week and a half ago it stopped and wouldn't turn over so we got a mallat at tapped under the body of the car where the fuel pump qas located and after a bit it stopped working and not I don't know if the pump finally gave out. Please give me me any advice. Is it hard to change on my own pr do I need a mechanic???

Ur not alone!! I had this problem last year, took it to the shop and after 2 months of waiting I paid $650 and it Stull had the same issue. The mechanic said I needed to put gas in and it would be fine. Long story short my brother in-law cleaned a hose and it was fine. I am having the same problem but it's not the hose this time. I have owned a lot of standards and I have never had this kind of problem. It just won't idle!!!
