Dashboard failure

Volkswagen Polo 1997  237415 miles
Some time ago, the laps counter and speedometer stopped working, while all the other instruments worked perfectly. Occasionally, when starting the engine, all of them were working but, when turning it off and starting it again, they failed once more. I was told the problem was a little engine which might be damaged. Can anyone help me please?

I had the same problem and it was a connector which was released from its place. It goes in the gearbox and controls both things.

Your problem is the air-fuel ratio, and the TPS sensor is in charge of regulating this ratio. Check first of all the wire that goes from the accelerator to the TPS sensor, which might be damaged, preventing the acceleration function at idle speed. If this is not the cause of your problem, ask a mechanic to check the exit gas temperature in the TPS. Hope it helps you.

You should clean the IAC valve which, together with the TPS sensor, maintain 900 rpm at idle speed, despite any charge variation which can be caused by the air conditioning, power steering, electrofun, among others.

Your wires migh be overcharged. Check the ignition coil, as when it is too hot, it causes a short circuit.

Check the oil pressure and do not include any additives to the oil.

Check the colour of the bulbs, right inside the oil filter. They should be the same colour. In my case it is grey and I installed a black one.

Remove the sump and clean the pick up filter on the oil pump. This should solve your problem.

With a closed contact, keep the mileage pressed and open contact, without starting the engine. Wait for 20-40 seconds and you will see it disappears.

EPC indicator SolvedSolved

Volkswagen Polo 2007  98000 miles
I've been having this problem for weeks: I start the engine and everything works perfectly but, after driving for a while, suddenly the EPC turns on. I turn the car off and on again and it disappears. I've already changed the stop sensor but without a positive result. What can it be?

Stalls when raining

Volkswagen Polo 2005  120000 miles
When raining and driving through a puddle, the car stalls. It is only after 15 minutes of trying to start the engine without any positive results that it finally does. What should I do? Do I need to cover something in particular?

I have a Polo 95 and sometimes, after driving for a while, gears stop changing as if the clutch did not work any longer. I turn it off, wait until it cools down, start it again and it works properly then. Why can it be?
