I changed a fuse for the dash lights so I thought but when I put back in the air bag light was on and has stayed on

You must use a VAG COM scanner and reset the error. Or contact the service (or someone who has this device). Nothing else will help (neither disconnecting the battery nor erasing errors with an OBD II scanner).
