Gearbox noise

Nissan Terrano 2002  150000 miles
Hello, I have a Nissan Terrano and, when stopped or in neutral, a gearbox noise appears. When clutching or when driving at low or high rpm, the noise disappears. I was told it is a normal noise in the Terrano gearboxes, but I would like to know if this is true. What do you think?

The same happened to me and the gearbox must be failing. Be careful because a bearing might get damaged.

It is the neutral bearing from the gearbox. You need to replace it as well as maintaining the whole gearbox. I recommend you to change it once the noise becomes really annoying, and not before.

Car jerks in 1st gear - Smooth otherwise, gear changes smooth

Nissan Terrano 2016 SUV, Manual, Petrol 25000 miles
Car jerks in 1st gear - Smooth otherwise, gear changes smooth - dealer even said 'No problem, you can change clutch but not recommended to change just now' - they only want part to fail & make money but it only has some 25000miles.
Before anyone focuses on 'bad driving' - I have been driving for 20yrs+, this car is mostly driven by 2 drivers and we have other cars - we've had Toyota's, Honda's, Cielo's...

The jerking in 1st gear could be caused by a variety of issues, some of which could include:

Engine misfire: If the engine is not running smoothly, it can cause the car to jerk and shake. This could be due to an issue with the ignition system, fuel system, or air intake.
Transmission slipping: If the transmission is slipping, it can cause the car to jerk and shake, especially in lower gears like 1st. This could be due to low transmission fluid, a slipping clutch, or a worn clutch.
Engine idle speed: If the engine idle speed is too low, it can cause the car to jerk and shake. The engine idle speed is controlled by the throttle body and the throttle position sensor.
Engine mounts: If the engine mounts are worn or damaged, they can cause the engine to shake, which can be transmitted to the car's body and cause it to jerk.

Thanks for the reply - is there anything I can check before getting 'robbed' by a mechanic - I cant work on cars - im just an average user :-) Anything other than 'go to qualified mechanic' will help - maybe something more specific like 'change x oil'
