Starts but won't reach more than 3,000 revolutions

Honda Accord 2000  264410 miles
Suddenly my car stopped speeding up, and cannot go beyond 3000 rpm. I've cleaned the throttle body but it remains the same... revolutions go up and down but nothing more than 3000 rpm, what can it be?

Hi, Melly. I had the same problem and the cause was located in the engine's belts. There are two of them, a huge and a little one, check over there.

2012 Accord EX-L V-6 fix

Honda Accord 2012 EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5L 5A
Car accelerates then suddenly stops acceleration even though gas pedal is increasing. Suddenly the car accelerates at pedal position causing a sudden jurk motion forward due to sudden over compensated acceleration. Occurs sporadically. Caution must be taken when behind other cars or crossing into median on 4 lane highways. Pause may last as long as 4 seconds which is a long time with on-coming traffic while crossing road. Also could result in rear in collision from cars in rear due to sudden pause in acceleration and rear car accelerating smoothly at normal pace. Rear car would not expect you… Read complete

2014 Accord LX issues

Honda Accord 2014 LX Sedan 2.4L CVT
As i was changing lane at around 45 mph on a slightly bending ramp (arthursburg rd) to a two-lane highway (taconic state parkway south bound, new york), my power steering suddenly stopped working. The steering wheel has jerked to the left/right for about 15 seconds. My vehicle ran from the ramp lane to the side of the inner lane. I was trying to steer away from the inner lane to avoid a clash with a moving suv in the inner lane, but the power steering was not working at all. Initially, it seems the brake did not work either. At the final moment, i pressed the brake as hard as i could to avoid a clash with the suv in inner lane. My car stopped. Luckily, there was not any vehicle at outer lane. All cars behind me noticed the situation and stopped. Otherwise, a major accident would occur.

Honda Accord 2014 EX Sedan 2.4L CVT

Upon entering our street, suddenly the vehicle stalled totally out and came to a stop in middle of the road! we rolled it over to the side, it is a neighborhood street; then started car again and went slowly downhill to the house; car stalled again just outside our house, we could not get it into driveway, very strong fuel smell; we pushed it to get it parked on the street. Tried again later tha… Read complete

2013 Accord 4cyl problems

Honda Accord 2013 LX Sedan 2.4L CVT
As a result of my car having to brake so hard and sudden to stop a possible accident the airbags exploded also braking the seat belts without there being an actual impact. The police arrived, both the sheriff an a local officer. They testified as there being no impact and that it was a factory mistake and said an accident report was useless also to call honda and state our problem. We did so and honda refused to pay for the damages. When the insurance got involved they said it was not a accident and refused to pay. I understand is difficult for honda to accept an error in one of their vehicles; but it also has to be understood that i shouldn't pay for an error that i didn't commit. I hope you guys can help. *tr

Problems 2009 Honda Accord 3.5L

Honda Accord 2009 EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5L 5A 3000 miles
I purchased a 2009 honda and had it service every 3000 miles. Upon my second servicing of the car i had the dealership to check my brakes cause they were squeaking; the representative stated that the brake rotors tend to rust and the reason why i was hearing the brakes upon compression. So, me being a woman and all i thought the representative being honest with me however, i drove the car for another week and i could hear this grinding noise while driving as if metal and metal was rubbing together. I thought maybe it would go away but it didn't it kept on and then it suddenly stopped. However,… Read complete
