HFT Bluetooth problem

Honda Accord 2007  70000 miles
Since upgrading SatNav disk (which caused firmware upgrade) HFT Bluetooth will no longer pair with any phones. Self diagnostics report HFT is working. Pairing process tries but just times out.

Can anyone confirm the relationship between a SatNav disc update requiring a firmware update and the operation of the Bluetooth system for the phone?

Problems 2013 Accord EX-L 4cyl 2.4L

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L Sedan 2.4L CVT
Dealer did a recall update of audio system in march 2013 to repair defects in audio system. This update immediately began to interfere with the car's cell phone blue tooth connection causing loss of pairing, loss of speed dials, etc. I have contacted the dealer and honda factory representative repeatedly. The only response i get is they are working on a solution. Spoke to honda engineering several times. They offered two suggestions which did not solve the problem. Recently i spoke to engineering and their suggestion this time concerns me. I was told that shifting the car out of park before th… Read complete

I, too, own a 2013 Accord EX-L/Nav 4 cyl. Though I was very pleased with the car overall, I can’t say the same for the way I feel about the way in which Honda- both the local Dealer, nor the Honda America company – treat their customers. It is one convoluted bureaucracy where their lack of knowledge is only overshadowed by the gall in which they espouse their ridiculous wisdom.
The only issues I had with the car during the first 2 years or so were merely inherent in the design of the car: the Terrible ‘deluxe’ audio system sound and the CVT transmission’s idiosyncrasies. Also, I got the initial computer update – luckily - as when I first spoke with them w/ re to some various phone/audio system issues, they really had no clue and were planning on the usual ‘we must see for ourselves’ service appointment. On the appointment date, they had just received the first firmware/software update which did help.

Within a short period of time, a computer glitch developed- one that I was eventually emotionally beaten down from and drained. The system stopped letting you choose the 2nd page of ‘phone history’ when the car was moving. When you would scroll to the end of the first page of 5 telephone numbers/names, a note would show at the bottom of the screen telling you to ‘say ‘ ’next’’’ into the car’s microphone as it was supposed to go to the next screen. This stopped working. You would be taken to a different screen altogether! Upon bringing the car back to DCH Academy Honda a few times, as well as speaking with Tech Support American Honda, the results were so off the wall that it’s unbelievable that this company is still in existence. Both would offer answers such as ‘it’s supposed to be that way’, or, ‘go see how another car’s system operates’! How insulting. A- it never had done this in the past, B-why would it ‘tell’ you to go to the ‘next’ screen if it wasn’t going to do anything?
I had written out very good, concise explanations – with screen pictures - of the issue for the service managers. Yet, when they ‘had to see the issues for themselves’, invariably, as we drove together, they proved that they had no clue of both what the system is supposed to do and more so, what I was even talking about. I was exasperated: my emotions-defeat, trapped, walled-off, and anger - all started to escalate to a point where I wanted to blow, to have someone with a mind just LISTEN. This was just unbelievable.

By then I had already started my Log of conversations, phone calls, meetings, etc. After speaking ad infinitum to various level ‘service’ managers (a joke), they finally agreed to change ‘something’. As soon as I heard what they wanted to change, I knew they were totally on the wrong track. (they were changing out the ’hands-free link module’; not the problem as it worked for other functions, etc.). Each level in their hierarchy of service people were merely there as a wall to wear one down, as none knew more than the next. And, each one had the same lack of knowledge as to what the system is supposed to do, thus necessitating my repeating myself each time as they just didn’t read the paperwork. And, each time, they were in touch with their Tech Support and still getting ridiculous answers to what should be done or more accurately what shouldn’t be done. Anything. By the way, some other screens on the computer had started acting in an aberrant way, too.
[I’m not listing all the visits, nor names, nor other thoughts that I (a geek) offered to them, nor other attempts to remedy the issue that were made at this time]

After finally getting a referral to a potentially advanced tech person at one of their affiliated Honda dealers, I was actually shocked to see that this person did understand the problem and did offer to help. He convinced his manager to finally change the computer module. Wow, home free. Not!
[Don’t let me leave out the part where their ‘business sect’y’ called me to tell me that I was not covered for this repair, but that they would do it for me as a goodwill gesture. Totally wrong. Not just did this issue start when under the initial warrantee period, but I also had the extended warrantee which spelled out exactly that it was indeed covered. Another insult. ]
Result: though some issues in the computer system did improve, my basic problem was NOT Rectified by this new computer. Not to mention that the unit no longer lists nor speaks Zagat Restaurant reviews- a real perk that surprised me when I first got the car.
This brings me to where I am now. I spoke to tech support at American Honda again, after sending a lengthier letter- with Pictures of what was going on on the screen. They called me back. Though this person, too, really didn’t know what the specifics of my computer were, he explained to me that ‘…not enough people complained about the problem to warrant their intervention…– to fix it’. What an answer!!!
I called/wrote them again months later and upon their call-back, was further exasperated when told that the part must be found broken by the Local Dealer who would then notify American Honda and then they would have the ability to help. ISN’T THIS FAULTY LOGIC, CIRCULAR REASONING AT ITS BEST!! I felt so trapped, locked in, defeated, and wanted to bust out. Their attitude was totally one of walling you off from them in every sentence that she stated – almost scripted for her. So, where do I go now?

2013 Honda Accord sport won’t start

Honda Accord 2013  88000 miles
This car will not start as soon as you turn the key. I even had the key replaced. The best odds are after the blue tooth connection comes up on the screen and then it will start sometimes. I’m afraid in an emergency I won’t be able to start my car and escape. We just got this car used from a dealer 3 months ago. It’s been an ongoing problem.

Fix Accord EX-L 4cyl

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L Sedan 2.4L CVT
My center console has been getting stuck. The screen itself gets stuck in reverse and has now the side camera has gotten stuck as well. The bluetooth is also messing up and the usb messed up my phone. There is something majorly wrong with the electrical in my car. It all started when i would start my car and the radio would switch to the cd player and i wouldn't touch anything. Then the backup camera screen would get stuck and now the side camera and now the bluetooth. I'm done! this is my 4th accord out of 5 cars. I know a lot about cars and this isn't right. It has been to the dealership numerous times and they have updated it and said it would be fixed and it isn't. Fix the thing or lemon law it. It's going back into the shop tonight, so lets see! *tr

Issues 2013 Honda Accord EX-L

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L V-6 Sedan 3.5L 6A
I own a 2013 honda accord ex-l v6 w/ navi
today i started my car and when the stereo came on it was all static with a little background music from the radio. I switched the source to xm radio, ipod, bluetooth, fm radio... All of which were loud and statickey with hardly any music. I turned the car off and turned it back on and the problem went away. The is the first occurrence but i have read online that this is a common problem in the 2013 accords. *tr

Issues Accord EX-L 2.4L 4cyl

Honda Accord 2013 EX-L Sedan 2.4L CVT
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 honda accord. The contact stated that the bluetooth function would not disconnect properly. As a result, the contact would have to remove his eyes from the roadway, reach down and attempt to reconnect the bluetooth. The contact would also have to shut off and restart the engine in order to establish a connection. The manufacturer performed a software update during production, but that update failed to remedy the failure. The failure mileage was 25 and the current mileage was 500. *tr
