My husband owned a 2008 Ford sport trac and was in an accident that totalled the vehicle and yet no airbags deployed

My wife just had an accident with our 07 Sport Trac and same thing. Some 16 yr old girl pulled out in front of her and she broad sided her and the air bag in the steering wheel did not go off and her chest hit the steering wheel and she has a broken /fractured sternum
