Have you tried not filling up the overflow and does it suck coolant back into the system once it cools down? might have to much coolant when it heats it expands overflow catches excess then when cooled creates a vacuum which sucks the coolant from the overflow back into the system but if both are filled to top will overflow the overflow

Yes but it will pressurise the system within 4 mins of start up not even time enough to get warm. And with the cap off. After sitting over night start it up pushes water out the radiator. I’ve had the head checked twice and the block looks fine. It’s doing my head in.

Temperature raise and water leakage

Ford Ranger 2000  250000 miles
Hello everyone, I have a Ranger engine maxion 2.5 turbo diesel and its problem is that the temperature goes high and water leaks through the deposit. I've changed the viscous clutch and the water pump, an hydraulic test was made and the gasket, rings, metals and even the radiator have been renewed, but the problem is still there. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

I had the same problem and it was solved by buying a new radiator plug, as the other one was really dirty and the spring was damaged, and that is why there is a water leakage.

Hi, unfortunately yours is one of the worst problems of the maxion 2.5. I recommend you to make the amendment of the cylinder head, as well as to change the gasket for a new and original one. Unluckily, the maxion's gasket are made of duralumin, a material which is not too resistent to the high temperatures and pressures generated in the gasket itself. The plugs radiator has nothing to do with your problem. One more thing; it is really important that you put the original motocraf refrigerant in its proper dilution with distilled water, as it raises the boiling temperature of the liquid and thus generate only the right pressure. I hope my comment helps you.
