Ford Ranger 2013 3.2 100000 miles
I have a 2013 PX Ford Ranger, and each morning when I start off on my trip to work I get to the end of the street and the Traction Control light comes on, then activates the Traction Control. I then need to turn the car off and back on and it doesn't happen again. What could this be??? It only it only happens when the car is cold (I live in Brisbane Australia, so cold is +20c) and happens when I drive at slow speed. Or stop for the first time. I've had taken the car to a Ford Dealership and they spent 6 hours on it can could not find an issue. No error codes are reported on the scanner, and cannot replicate the issue because I've driven the car to the Ford Dealership and I have already turn the car off and back on to clear the Traction Control issue. \
My mechanic can’t find what it is as it won’t throw any codes. The only thing that comes up is ’turbo low power’. I have been told that it could be the electronic actuator on the turbo but there is no definitive evidence that this is the actual issue. It could be throwing this code because of the loss in power. I have noticed that when this issue occurs the top hose ( throttle body to intercooler) depresses. Meaning that it is no longer pressurised instead in a vacuum.
Mines going to Ford Kilmore on 29th/April so we'll see what they say.
If anyone who has had this issue rectified, or if anyone see this in future send me an email to Jake at MRLS dot com for au
Yeah my mechanic was having trouble making sense of it. I’ve since taken it to a auto elec and they are certain that it is the turbo actuator. I’ve decided to up the turbo with the Garrett upgrade and throw in a better flowing intercooler followed by a remap. If this fixes the issue I’ll let everyone know.
Sorry, really late reply here...
So it sounds like we are all having symptoms that could relate to some of the same issues. So I think with the traction control issue the first thing we checked was the wheel sensors. If they check out ok keep in mind that if you have a big wheel set up and 2' and higher lift kit, it can set the sensors off over time. It seems to be only happening to the right side.
With my ute I had other issues going on at the same time so it through us right off in terms of diagnosis.
We'll see what happens when I get the ute back and if the traction control fault goes away.
I’ve got what sounds like the same thing in a PX 2.5 petrol model, ESC light comes in within 30m of driving then if I turn steering wheel more than 90 deg the ABS pulses. Any ideas on this one? Cheers!
