It vibrates and the engine shakes SolvedSolved

Ford F-150 2009  90000 miles
When my pick up goes over a ramp or hill, it starts to make a rattling noise, as if it doesn't have any oil. If I leave it like that the engine starts vibrating badly, I have to accelerate it briefly for it to go back to normal. And now this is happening more often; I hope anybody can help me or have some experience with this, thanks!

You have to diagnose it, maybe the oil pump is not working correctly, or the crankshaft is work out

I forgot to mention that I never had a check engine light or any other warning, but I will take it to the dealership for the diagnostic, thanks for the comment.

I have the same problem, the oil pum and crankshaft were checked in the dealership and they are in top condition, I haven't been able to solve it

These engines have a big defect: the gears in the camshaft wear out and damage easily, and then they make a noise as if they were diesel. I had 4 of these trucks and in all I had to change the gears, and then the problem is solved.

I took it to the dealership and they said it was the timing kit, luckily I sold it and bought the new 2015 model.

My mechanic discovered that the differential was worn out and was locking, the more I drove the more it locked. This differential is positraction, which means that both wheels have traction and then turning around it got stuck; I had to change the whole differential.

Rear wheels vibrate and feel as if they're braking

Ford F-150 2005  100000 miles
Around 15 minutes after starting my truck, when turning around slowly or reversing, the rear wheels vibrate and feel as if they were stuck or braking. It does the same if I'm going uphill, and it's easy to notice how they vibrate and "jump" around. The cardan, differential, brakes and discs were checked, but the problem is still there.

Raw gas smell in vent system and vibration

Ford F-150 2006 Stx 4.6L 4wd auto 90000 miles
I bought this truck with 85000 miles on it. When going up a hill or merging onto the highway I have seemingly very little power to stay at a constant speed. I realize it's a 4.6 in a 5000lb truck but come on. When I merge on the highway I get a vibration, slight, almost like being on a small rumble strip around 50 miles an hour. It just doesn't feel right considering it doesn't do that any other time. Also, when I warm up my truck I get a raw gasoline smell in the cab and when I pop the hood I can smell it above where my plugs are and where I can see my vents run into the cab on the passenger… Read complete

Engine shakes

Ford F-150 1994  190000 miles
As soon as I start the truck it starts shaking an as I continue to drive it, it still shakes, but it stops shaking as bad if I reach up to 55mph I heard it could be the motor mounts or the harmonic balancer but I have no clue. Any feedback would help an be greatly appreciated.

My pick up does not accelerate

Ford F-150 1998  140000 miles
It started with jerks while driving; when starting gold y vibrates and then it normalizes. While driving it losed power as if choking a little, but now it got worse. It chokes while accelerating and sounds as if exploding, when I let go it keeps driving; if I accelerate again it does the same but it doesn't stall. If I turn it off for 5 seconds it works for 10 minutes and then it fails again. I alreadi cleaned the injectors, changed spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, coils and their sensors. I've already had this problem for a year and they can't solve it, yesterday I scanned it and had air sensor error, but changing it didn't fix it.

It sounds like the issue I had with my 2008 5.4l engine. I replaced spark plugs and coils. Finally it ended up being the VCT solenoid. I got my power back and it runs great.

Engine noise, F150 2004

Ford F-150 2004  150000 miles
The engine of my F150 5.4 Lariat sounds as if it was diesel, and on the passenger side the engine block makes a clanking sound. When I start it it doesn't make the noise, but as soon as it warms up it starts again. I checked the cranshaft's connecting rods and everything looks fine, the timing belt is new but the noise is still there, and it vibrates and loses accelaration when you throttle it.

I have a Ford F150 5.4 v3 with a weird noise

Ford F-150 2006  180000 miles
Hello, I have a problem with my 5.4 v3 truck, first I thought it was the chain but after disassembling and changing the tensors I saw some damages, and then changed the oil pump. It kept doing the same noises, in fact you can hear it even more, and also it burns the raw gas. The engine is not vibrating anymore, but I don't get any warning or a check engine light

But it did and it cost me zero dollars to have motor replaced so i don't imagine it was a fictitious diagnostic one month latter they replace the transmission and said it was a related they said the motor caused the problem with the transmission total repaire bill compleatly under warranty was $16,000.00

Speakers sound blown

Ford F-150 2013  74000 miles
The speakers with my sync stereo system sound terrible. They sound fuzzy and vibrating like they are blown but I know they're not because it does it at different times for different speakers throughout the truck. It also doesn't matter if it's radio CD Bluetooth it all sounds like crap.

I have the same problem. It seems to be heat related. Early mornings works fine after work sounds like speakers are blown until truck cools down.
Toopentup from United States 4 years ago
I haven't noticed a hot or cold relation to it, but I will definitely check those patterns. I have done a little more digging and looking into it though and apparently Ford used $8 speakers for about a 3-year. That includes my 2013. There apparently have been loads of complaints. The only solution is to buy better ones that I have found so far.

Engine failure, carbureted F150

Ford F-150 1987  150000 miles
Hello! I just bought a carbureted V8 Ford F150, but the problem I have is that it lacks acceleration and the engine vibrates the same as if the injectors were clogged, but obviously it is carbureted. What I haven't checked is the timing with spark plugs and cables. It was already without use for over 3 years, and to add more information it doesn't produce smoke or makes weird noises, and when it is in parking and you throttle the engine it sounds as if something was uneven.

Brakes problem

Ford F-150 2005
Four months ago I bought a van FX4 with 14000km and, even though it is an all-terrain vehicle, the brakes do not work that properly. Not a heavy rain is needed for the brake discs to suffer a considerable deformation. Even more, the vibrations when braking are too evident. If anybody has had a similar problem please let me know.

You should disconnect the ABS connector, located on the driver's side next to the shock absorber's base. The ABS indicator will be on in the dashboard, and you should then try how brakes are working.

Change the brake discs and pads for some good quality ones, which you can buy directly from a brakes distributor center.

Oil change

Ford F-150 2008  116 miles
My truck got an oil change, and they used thin oil, and the enging started vibrating really badly. I took it to the mechanic and he said I should use thicker oil, and they changed it. It worked somewhat alright. But after I drive 6 miles and make a stop, the engine starts vibrating badly again, and I have to leave it to cool down for 30 minutes. They told me to change the timing belt, but I did it and it still does the same
