Jerks

Ford Escort 1999  200000 miles
At the beginning, when starting in first gear, it jerked as if there was a fuel deficit. One morning, I had only driven for 2 miles, when it lost power and stalled. I tried to start it back again and, in an attempt to do so, an kind of explosion was heard and, since then, it could not be started again by no means. I think the engine must be damaged.

You should check the spark plugs wiring, being that the easiest of the failures. It would be more critical if it was a coil failure, which produces the explosions you are talking about when it starts getting damaged.

I'm having the same problem, my car will start but it won't idle. I try to push the clutch in and push the gas. Still it won't stay started. My car died while I was on the trans Canada highway, no power at all. No brakes no steering, thank God I had just slowed down and there was a turn off close. Pretty scary!! It also makes a back fire sound after I try starting a couple of times

Like I was taking my foot off the accelerator constantly, you could describe it as hesitation. The very next day it started jutting very bad. (Jutting is the best word I've found to explain it) I am only able to get to 1.5 RPMs before it starts jutting back and fourth, like I'm in the wrong gear, and when I reach 30 MPH (usually I would be in 3rd but it forces me to shift to 4th) I have to shift to 5th and I… Read complete
